A friend and myself are thinking of giving out home made survival kits to our hunting/fishing/hiking/outdoors buddies. Keep in mind that these would be for guys who are serious outdoors-men but not big into outdoor survival. And I konw what everyone is thinking (that they should be taught ) but I dont have the time right now. So, I need items in the kit that dont take an expert in outdoor survival to use. I would like some suggestions on contents here is what I have so far...

Nalgene bottle (for container)
portable aqua/micro pur tablets
knife (probbably a SAK)
Emergency/space blanket
LED flashlight
mirror
wistle
small compass
Bic lighter
Strike anywhere matches
Flint/mag tool with striker
Petrol cotton balls
wire saw
snare wire
fishing kit
para cord
first aid items
aluminum foil
sewing kit
duct-tape
small sack for the items to be put in when the bottle is used for water.
survival instructions/ small survival book?

that is a great idea.... i made some altoids tin PSK's for a few bowhunting friends last year for christmas....:) they were a hit...

I would do the altoids kits but they are a little advanced in my opinion. Just wondering, what did you have in them? As for which SAK? Not sure wich one yet, maybe the soldier.

I gave the NRA wilderness kits once, blastmatch, wetfire tinder, starflash mirror, and jetscream whistle. They were a hit as well. Mac

The gift that keeps on giving, is always a great choice. I've given away a lot of individual kits to friends and family. Some got the idea I was trying to convey to them and started getting into preping and the rest, well, lets just say the gift can still give, if they remember to grab it when they need it.

I gave his and hers survival kits as a wedding present last summer. He was insulted. She was grateful. Go figure.
