hey, i just got a ka-bar bk-2, love it. my friend also wants a survival knife, but just isn't diggin mine. so i'm trying to help him out. can you reccommend me a knife

specs-
$70-$0
4.5-8.5 inches (mabey 10)
can withstand alot of abuse
fixed blade
and could be secondarily employyed as a deployment/ tactical/ fighting knife
USA made (he's kind of a bigot about that)
also, if it doesn't fit into these requirements but you want me to check it out, (and as long as it's not over like 200-250) then recommend it anyway

he also fell in and then out of love with the Ka-Bar USMC, so that's not really an option either

thanks for any help

also, my computer won't post pics so i won't be able to post any, feel free to post ur own though.

Entrek Javalina would be my #1 choice- I've seen them <$100

One of the RAT knives would also be a good choice, but I don't know if they can be had for <$70. In your price point if your buddy doesn't like KaBar then one of Ontario Spec Plus knives or their Pilots Survival knife might work for him.

:rolleyes:Survival knife.
Why such a large knife? Most of the people who use knives for bushcraft/survival situations use a smaller and lighter knife.

thanks guys, anything else, i'm gonna be using amazon, so then prices i'm gonna be looking at are gonna be around 8-1 dollars cheaper then ag russel or knifecenter, so that kind of raises the price i can look at, but great suggestions so far

Priced low to high,All USA Made
Ontario Spec Plus SP1 Marine(7") or SP6 Fighter(8") both less than $50
Becker 7 (7") $80
Scrapyard Sykco 511(5")$90
Ontario RAT 7(7")$109
ESEE 6(6.5")$135
As a personal endorsement,I've had my Ontario SP1 forever it seems.I collected the Ontario Pilot's Survival knives growing up(still do) and when the Spec Plus line came out,I bought my SP1.It's on my belt as I type this.No worse for the wear after almost 20 years(If I remember correctly,I got it back in the early to mid 90's) of camping, survival schools, yard duty, and general abuse. It has been stripped and given a forced patina after batoning so much wood the original black finish was almost completely gone.Still takes and holds a great edge.An often overlooked line, but I'd trust my life to this knife anytime, anywhere.A good blade doesn't have to cost a fortune.

He doesn't like your BK2? Slap him 'til he starts liking it, man!

Or... BK7 or BK9 also meet your criteria unless it's just something about Beckers he doesn't like. There a number of US made Kabars and all of ESEE's line is made here as far as I know. You might also check Buck.
