Survival Knife

Becker, kabar, scrapyard, swamprat, busse. All depends on what you want to spend and exactly what you like. Those are all good ones that won't let you down for a start.

...also depends on what you mean by "survival" and where you intend to do it.

Let us know!

Fallkniven comes to mind. F1,S1,A1,A2 they come in all sizes.
ESEE and Becker are also great.

Thanks guys! Honestly im looking for a knife that will be my go to knife in my bug out bag. I will also be carrying this knife with me on camping trips etc. There are a lot of good durable knives out there but seems like you can either spend a ton of money or spend little money like a Mora. Hard to know where to start.

Try looking at an esee 3, or some model of becker. You can get great deals on all the knives listed above if you check the exchange frequently.

Start with a price range.

If you also share what State you live in, or what kind of places you expect to use the knife, it may help. - A desert knife would differ than one necessary for heavy woods, which may differ than rain forest...

I'm with Cricket Dave. You can't go wrong with Scrapyard, Swamp rat, Busse, Becker, Esee, kabar. I got Busse and Kin Along with a BK-2 and esee3 I love them all. It all comes down to personal preference and price you want to spend. All Great KNives imo.

Im pretty new here but i bought a Becker BK2 a while back on (( not a paid BF Dealer )) for $65. for the quality, its a great price. i would start there.

I'd suggest you start out with a Mora Robust. A decent carbon steel knife for only $15!! It will do most anything you need a survival knife to do ... and at that price you can lose it, give it away to a good friend, or even better - buy more survival gear.

+1 on Mora! They're AMAZING knives for under $20US and if you want to upgrade, you don't have to start saving all over again and you have a great backup blade.

Start with a Mora. I have used moras for more than 20 yrs, my oldest one was made in the 50's and is still 100% I would start with the companion mg ~$10. I think its the best all around mora.

Check out Condor. The quality is on par with some of the more expensive options, while keeping a price range closer to Mora. Bushlore or the Rodan are both nice knives.

Thanks for all the good info! Mora sounds like a great knife...not sure how they are able to keep there prices so low...One more question do any of you guys know the difference between a RAT knife made by esee and a Rat knife made by ontario knife co?
