Since, you want no Swamp Rat's and I assume by default no Busse,

I will then recommend the Becker Brute as your next choice. It is Beckers toughest large blade and it has gotten excellent reviews in the past. Ranger knives RD9 seem to be good as well. Both of these are in the $100 mark.

busse is not offering anything right now.. but the hellrazer, warhog? and a sword.. the hellrazor is a combat knife.. inless they come out with that battle mistress in a few weeks.. which is what people on the forum are telling me..

hmm thought the Ranger Shank was $80.. now its $69 o.O

how does 5160 steel do in the wildness? chopping, praying, wear and so on..

Fallkniven A1. I guarantee you that it is unbreakable, holds a tremendous edge, fairly priced, etc.

I am VERY curious though -- why the aversion to Swamp Rat and/or Busse?

if no busse products then order a ranger rd9 and have it made to your custom specifications and save some money as it will be less than $400 and you can have it made out of whatever steel you want with whatever grip you want as well as having it ground the way you want.

your the same guy that was banned from swamp rat chat arent you? I see why an adversion to all things busse.

You didn't state if that was a 9" blade, or 9" over all length. My suggestion, would be Relentless knives:

The Fehrman knives are just about indistructable and I have 4 of their models, however, if used around salt water be very careful to keep the knife wiped down since CPM3V is not in the stainless catagory.

You might be better served with the Fallkniven A2 with the 8" blade. I have one and I doubt that you will be able to give it more then it will take especially with the laminated VG-10/420 J2 blade.

Ciao

get an ENTREK!!! steel type: 440c, 57-58Hrc, cryo-treated, one of the tougher stainless out there and cryo treat makes the blade more resistant to chipping.

Smaller than your spec but take a look at the Blackjack Grunt, a cracking all round knife!!!
