With all this current widespread interest in survival and disaster preparedness I'm surprised that there are not any multi-tools specifically designed for survival type situations. More specifically I've wondered why some good company hasn't made a multi-tool with a fire starting kit on it. Like a magnesium block that you can start a fire with right on your multi-tool.

If there is one on the market and I'm not aware of it maybe you all can tell me where to find one. Maybe even one with a small map reading flashlight.

It's a surprise to me that someone hasn't explored that market. Because that market is getting bigger every day.

Also I would like to eventually see a multi-tool with a Hawkbill blade too.

I haven't seen any multitool that features a firestarter, so I just carry a peanut lighter so I alway have the ability to start a fire.

Tool Logic makes a survival card that is about the same size of a Swisscard that has a magnesium firestarter, blade, whistle, and one other component.

Tool Logic has several folders that fit the bill for survival.

Probably the best one is this one:

You get a decent sized knife with a fire striker/ mini light insert. They have all kinds of them. I've watched a couple reviews of them on Youtube, and supposedly even the most economical of them are pretty well put together.
I've thought about picking one up, but most of the time when I'm out and about I have a better fire steel and brighter flashlight on me. Might not be a bad thing for the glove box or bug out bag.

I think that is the issue. When you put various things together you get compromises.

I've been aware of the company TOOL LOGIC for some time but I will admit that I've never taken a hard look at them before. Some of the pictures look really intriguing. They look very functional as well.

But I'm still surprised that someone at the forefront of the multi-tool industry like Victorinox hasn't done something like that.

But I guess that on the other hand I've got to admit that the Multi-tool companies have still come a long way in terms of quality and other innovations in the past 10 to 12 years. The newer Victorinox stuff just keeps getting better.

I'm definitely going to research the TOOL LOGIC products. They really do look nice and well built too.
