Survival related question Dick Proenneke Firearms?

I was watching a youtube vid of Dick Proennneke and I saw a bolt action rifle and in one vid he had a hand gun in a shoulder rig, that looked like a colt 45. Does anyone know what firearms and calibers he had in his cabin to help him survive?

I believe he had a Springfield 1903 (.30-06). I'm not sure on the revolver, I think he just referred to it as a "hand cannon" in his journals.
 
I really want to know what he had both rifle and handgun! I wish there was some solid info on this somewhere!

In his book that the Video was based on he says 357 on the revolver and 30-06 on the rifle.
 
Here's a screen shot from the video.
I don't recall seeing any hand guns in the video.

they show him carrying it in a shoulder Rig and again in his cabin, it is a single action and at first I thought was a 45LC but was told by mkhop that it was a 357 so I am thinking a Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Magnum.

You know...this brings up a point. Be familiar with whatever you've got and it's going to be much more useful than, "Well Person X used this, so it must be good."

Truth is he could have gotten on fine with any number of rifles/cailbers. He was used to that particular firearm so that's what he took. It's not like he was a city slicker that suddenly moved to Alaska.

Use what you're good with.

Like that kid who died up there in the school bus? Shame about that kid. Just goes to show you; Alaska is no joke.

The kid just didn't have the know how to get by. He'd actually killed a moose with a .22 rifle, but didn't know anything on how to preserve the meat, and it all rotted.
 
I've read Dick's journals several times. His pistol was a .357 and his "heavy artillery", as he called it, was his 30 - 06. My how times change... :D
