I'm basically building my 2 as a BOB or emergency/survival tool. So I have been trying to make it as effective and multi-use as possible and still maintain practicality. I've had this idea in my head for a few weeks now, and finally found the time today to throw it together.
The most time-consuming, hardest thing to make naturally is good cordage IMO so I devised a storage method to ensure I always have some on-hand (literally). This will go hand-in-hand with components in a Tin-Kit carried in pocket or pouched on knife itself.
The Build-
components (I didnt use all of this actually, some got edited out)
.93 kydex
wrapped in 6 pound-test Ragin Cajun line (I LOVE this stuff! use varied tests on all my poles)
two layered wrap of Bankline
used a couple ranger-bands to hold in place (also useful stuff)
550 wrap holds it all together
Then final layer of horse-tape for grip and to seal it all up (havent tested it, but tape may serve as firestarter too, will try it tomorrow)
Testing- I wanted to see how ''bomb-proof'' it was, no use for it if it don't perform well
seasoned oak square-cut (hard as all hades)
whoops...not gonna work! (BK9 FTW)
Had to whittle it down to size
Just about here is where I broke my baton. I was no-holds-barred WHALING on it to split that oak. If ya don't think the 2 is tuff...ur crazy! All that force was going on the last inch or so of blade, right on the tip. Didnt bother the 1095 at all.
decent pile of kindling
handles came thru like champs. No loosening, no ''wiggle'' and I beat the heck out of the handle quite a few times gettin it unstuck.
I also did a chop test, but forgot pics. Is comfy in the hand, perhaps a tiny bit of a ''hot-spot'' creator due to the horse-tape. But not enuff to notice.
I dont know if I am gonna keep it this way, but Im pleased with the success of the mod, it worked out like I had planned in my head. A tad ugly, but ugly is as ugly does.

I have NO idea the length of assorted cordage. I wasn't about to measure all that! It's ''enough''. Certainly more then none LOL
The 2 is thick enuff to be useable without scales, so if I had to take it apart to use components...it is still functional, especially with the tape back on to ''soften'' the edges some. I also made sure I could UNwrap it without a knife...since it's ATTACHED to my knife LOL only thing a 2 cant cut is itself!
