First of all, I posted right when I ordered this that Mr. Humelbaugh called me almost instantaneaously to query me about which tomahawk I own. I had ordered it from Botac, and it was still in transit. I recieved the VTAC and called Survival Sheath back to let Robert know which one it was. A couple of days later, I got my Sheath system. I ordered the Double Shoulder Sheath for VTAC and USMC Ka-Bar. I took the box into my office and tore it open.
The harness: Very adjustable for any size person. (I have a friend here on base in the Marine Corps, and he's got a 55 chest and 40 waist, and he couldn't quite fit in it, but he has to have BDU's custom made he's so big.) I found it pretty good fit. I often refer to my build as "two dimensional" being about 180 pounds with a 29 waist and 44 chest. It's hard for me to conceal a large handgun, for example, in a Galco Miami Classic. That said, this harness fits me perfectly. The underside of the shoulder straps is textured like stingray hide, and doesn't slide or slip. (Don't wear this thing without a shirt on unless you like callouses on your shoulders.)
The Ka-Bar sheath: At first glance, this is flawlessly molded to the Ka-Bar USMC. (Mine is an original Navy Issue from the USS Dixie's decomissioning yard sale. Best $20 I ever spent.) I slid the knife in, and it's a little tight, almost too tight. I liked the feel, though. I looked at my knife and it seems to be slightly curved from years and years of use and carry. I heated it up a little with my heatgun and it fits perfectly now. My fault for not trying another knife in it, but I have a real affinity for this particular Ka-Bar.
Now, the best part: The Tomahawk sheath. This is absolutely the best sheath I have seen for one of these things. The spike sort of hooks into the sheath and then you "roll" the blade up into it. Excellent quality all around. I'm really looking forward to my trip to buffalo counrty now. I'll be gone a couple of weeks, and when I get back, I'll tell you all how these terrific items held up.
Many thanks to Robert Humelbaugh and his Survival Sheath systems! (He gave a ten percent military discount I didn't even know about until I saw the invoice. Wonderful customer service.)
