Survival Sheath For RC-5

Just received my RC-5 with the kydex sheath. I am curious as to whether it will fit in a Spec-Ops Survival Sheath, and if so where I can pick one up? If not any other recommendations for a similar sheath? I'm a soldier and want to carry the knife on my belt and strap it to my thigh.

Thanks
PFC

The RC5 fits perfectly in the short (6") Spec Ops sheath. There are sometimes a few on a very popular auction site.

Yep, the Spec Ops short survival sheath or combat master work.

BUT, I'd go with Somberbear's suggestion to use the RC5/6 MOLLE back and pouch. The Spec-Ops is nice, but those are nicer.

There are still a few places selling them with the eagle industries sheaths. Just gotta look hard, and double check.

Yup, and I found one that I THOUGHT (based on the item description) had one and when the knife got here it didn't. The response from the dealer was, "The manufacturer changed the product and did not inform it's dealers. Contact them."

I replied stating I knew the product had changed and thats why I ordered from him, and that if I knew it was changed he should have too.

They had some tan and od seconds, not sure if any are left. New ones should be incoming.

What dealer was it? The new sheathed knives have an entirely diffrent sku number, and RAT was very specific about the change over

Flames Knives it's some ebay BS, but it was one of the few places with the old sheath in the item description. Thats what I get for not going to a reputable knife dealer. :grumpy: I would like the RAT sheath (trading mine for it with a forum member) but the more I see the spec-ops survival sheath the more I like it. So now just have to track one down.

I thought the RAT website had some eagle sheaths in black for $40.00 I may be wrong since its been a while. I got my RC5 a few weeks ago with the eagle sheath and I like it a lot for dayhiking. I dont mind the weight strapped to my belt if I am only out for 4 or 5 hours.

I ordered a Spec Ops Sheath for another knife that has a 5 1/2 inch blade. The sheath looks great in the pics, but I was very disappointed in the Kydex insert. The insert flares open at the mouth of the sheath (I guess to make it easier to return the knife to the sheath). Also, the cordage that comes on the knife seems cheap. I am sure that the sheath is just as "bullet proof" as they advertise, but I returned it.

I liked the fact that they kydex is a little wider at the opening. It's an easy fix if you want it more narrow, just heat it up and bend it.

In case anyone is interested, I have a spanking new OD Eagle nylon sheath that came with my RC-5 that I'm willing to trade for an RC-5 kydex sheath.
