I posted this over on BCUSA, figured I'd post it over here for the guys that don't go there.

I love playing with "survival" supplies, putting together kits, etc. Seems to keep my hands and brain busy with something constructive. I recently got a spec ops sheath to carry all my 7" blades and to make the "ultimate survival setup". Spec ops sheaths are a well built, american made and bomb proof that are fairly affordable. They are a great alternative to most companies OEM sheaths. Ok enough talking and product advertising :p onto the setup.

This is the complete package with becker bk7. I have the piggyback knife velcroed, safety tied and whipped onto the pouch flap. Above the pouch I have tarred bankline whipped around the sheath and over that is paracord. Was too big of a space to waste and this seemed like the perfect way to put that space to use.

I've got an arkansas stone underneath the whipped paracord on the back of the sheath. Keep in mind this gear is for emergency use only, so I won't be taking things off/out unless its an emergency.

This is a small button compass velcroed to the inside of the leg strap flap on the bottom of the sheath.

Here is the pouch flap open. As you can see there is no wasted space in this thing, it is filled up. There is also a magnifying lense velcroed to the sheath under the flap.

Here are the contents of the sheath laid out. That is alot of stuff packed into a single sheath and quite a complete kit.

I wore this sheath today on a several mile hike. It worked out great. I especially liked having the piggyback in a very easy to reach location.

While taking the pictures I realized the kit isn't as complete as it should be. I am in the process of adding water purification gear and a metal/wood reciprocating saw blades. I'll post an update once I figure out how I'm gonna do it.

Hope you enjoyed the pics. I'd like to hear other's opinions on this setup and what they use.

Update:
Ok the idea for adding water purification was simple and seems like it'll work well. I attached a single pistol mag pouch to the leg strap and safety tied it off to the sheath. It holds a few ziploc bags and bottle of iodine pills.
