Guys... I've been considering a survival knife and sheath for my BOB and so far I've been pretty much interested in the Survival sheath from Spec-Ops brand. would any of u kindly guide me to any reviews on this sheath, and also can it fit a Becker BK9?

thanks

I have one I use for an EK no.5 Bowie. It is very well made and the pouch can hold alot of stuff. I made a new kydex liner for it that is much stiffer than the one that came with it but that was'nt necessary I just wnated to practice with my kydex and make a tighter liner. I don't thein it will fit a BK9 though specops website lists the large model as fitting up to a 8.5" blade. If you have'nt checked out their web site you will find alot of information on it, www.specopsbrand.com Hope this helps.

I use the survival sheath for my BK-7. The BK-9 is too large for this sheath. As stated above, the pouch can hold lots of extras. Here is a pic that shows the size of the sheath compared to the BK-7.

is there any other survival sheath or similar products from other maker or brand?

"senoi" I have been wondering the same thing! :D

I love the Nylon w/ Kydex insert sheaths! I have an "Eagle Sheath" that came with my Ka-Bar D2 Extreme, several of the TOPS Nylon sheaths, and one of the Survival Spec-Ops sheaths.

All great sheaths, but none big enough for my Becker Brute BK1! At a mighty 9-1/2" long, 1/4" Thick, and about an 1-7/8" Wide... well I have been looking for a while to say the least.

I did get encouragement when I saw a 9-1/2" MachAx on sale on ebay not to long ago with a "original nylon/kydex sheath by John Carver at Eagle Industries" but have not found if they are still available to buy just the sheath.

..note the pictures are not on the ebay post anymore

I think the website for this sheath company is below:
https://www.eagleindustries.com/welcome.asp
..but when you search it you only find sheaths for folding knives - :(

During my search, I did come across some interseting websites:
http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme gear/gear organizers main/spec-ops_brand_combat_master_sheath.htm
http://www.survivalsheath.com/sheaths/index.htm
http://www.tacticaltools.com/knives.htm#anchor402904
http://www.gripsandknives.com/item.html?PRID=1534155
...although I never bought from any of these places nor wanted to take the chance commisioning somebody to make me a custom one.

Now I am curious, maybe I will try to email Eagle Industries!

Hey, I just noticed the thread started on "08-24-2005".

"relentlessknives.com", a little advertising? :D

Anyway, any thoughts on a sheath for a 9-1/2" long, 1/4" Thick, and 1-7/8" Wide Blade?

I did email Eagle Industries and will add to the thread if I hear back in the positive.

Nobody bends Kydex like Bob Dozier. He makes a wilderness survival sheath. His sheaths retain like banshees, but release easily when you activate them with gentle thumb pressure. Very nice stuff--I tried out a bunch on a recent shop visit.

The Becker's come with a decent Kydex sheath.

I was interested in finding a Nylon type sheath with a Kydex insert.

I have not heard back from Eagle Industries, but have talked to a dealer who stated that Eagle Industries is more geared towards large quantity orders with the military. Oh, well. Worth a shot.
