I have seen pictures and heard about small survival snares. I also think they were in Air Force survival kits. Could someone direct me to a site where I could purchase some.
Thanks,

as another thought i would suggest getting ron hoods video on trapping and snares, he shows you how to make your own snares from steel wire, and a bunch of other trappping techinques you may be interested in.

i liked the video a lot and found it very basic and full of tips on how to trap effectively.

Scratch my original post.

The spools I've seen labled "snare wire" at stores I've visited sounds to be the "trip wire" described in a post a bid lower down.

I'll take Plainsman's word that its not the stuff to use.

Be careful of the green and yellow military TRIP WIRE! Trip wire is about the only thing it is good for. Make a snare out of it and you will find it breaks too easily.
Many people thought it was snare wire, but it was really only made as TRIP wire which set off alarms or booby traps.

The Ron Hood's VHS Tape on trapping is very good and can be located on his Survival site. http://www.survival.com

AC Moore (Craft shop) has a nice green coated cooper wire for snare wire. Also check out your local hardware stores for brass wire.

Pre-made snares are also located at: http://wildernesssurvival.com/SurvivalKits.htm which is also a nice site for premade survival kits. It at least give one an idea of a fishing survival kit, and a wilderness survival kit.

well fire officer said most of it.

i have rons videos, i watch them with my kids, we learned a lot about the outdoors, i have talked to ron on the phone , has helped me out in my bow drill fire starting efforts, and use the forum, the folks that hang out there are a great bunch, very knowledgeable, very friendly.
