Survival Stove

He is on to something, I made a similar stove out of a pineapple can, by punching holes with a screwdriver around the bottom up to an inch up the can. Small twigs and grasses in the bottom with a cotton ball soaked in petrol jelly and a flint rod will get a nice little fire going, large enough to boil a can of stew, cup of coffee, hot dog, etc. It's windproof as well, the can protects the small fire from being blown out and the holes in the bottom give the wind enough access to stoke the coals. Great for camping in places that don't allow open flame.

thank you very much:D

There are lots of quick alcohol stoves that can be made, a lot of them being easier and more efficient than this. Search for a Cat's Eye or a Supercat alcohol stove.

It was a good idea to attempt this experiment outside.

A couple of things I would like to point out, your evaporation chamber, the tall can, is a bit unstable but it does evaporate the alcohol very well, maybe too well if you consider too much heat for the pot and quick fuel consumption. Also the primary purpose is to cook in a pot so this must be stable or you could not only spill your food but it’s possible to get burned in the process. In some ways this may be the function you would want to nail down first, stabilize the pot, then adjust the evaporation chamber for a better run time then play around with the venting for a good flame spread.

On a more positive note, you’re doing it and willing to share your attempts, of course posting to the world to see, you do need to clean up your script, it will be taken more seriously if you do so.

I would add that when experimenting thusly take all safety precautions, maybe experimenting on the grill of a barbeque or a sand box that can handle a mishap without the possibility of a fire getting out of hand.

By all means try again, see what you can come up with. There are some great resources on line that may help you with design, check them out, it will help.
