Survival TV !

One thing I've noticed about Les Stroud is after a week of starving he doesn't look any worse for wear. I can show you pictures what 4 days without food did to me, I lost 15 pounds. My cheeks and eyes were sunken, my pants were hanging loosely on my hips. I don't know if it's a difference in metabolism but you can see in the pictures of that guy's face, he's definitely malnourished.

Les Stroud has done that stuff all his life. I think after a while his body got used to it.

Actually in one of the radio interviews Les did, he mentioned that one of the reasons he was giving up doing Survivorman was because of the toll it was taking on his body when he went out. The weight loss over and over, the injuries, etc.

A good point for edible gear. He has a lot of gear including firearms and I assume fishing gear maybe they just did not choose a bontiful area.

Five weeks is actually not that bad for a guy with limited experience.
Doesn't mean it wasn't kind of stupid to go there and expect to catch enough game to keep going.

As for metabolism, yes it adapts to activity.

The fact that he was doing this from July through September, the guy should have done well for food you would think. Guess NatGeo won't be airing this after all?

video and picture evidence that all the toys in the world won't do shit for you if you don't have it between your ears.

atleast he knew when to call it "quits" and come home alive.

mayhap he'll think before he does anything else stupid.

how do you go hungry with a shotgun?

The same way you get eaten by a bear you think is your friend: stupidity, situational ignorance and underestimation.

It's been on for a while. The show is terrible, don't bother unless you want to be pissed off at how whiny someone in a beautiful area can be. The pilot was painful to watch, and that was when he had full gear. I can't imagine how bad the show is when he only has a few items.

The area was plenty bountiful. He just didn't know what he was doing.

I thought the show wasn't airing until he was finished? At the end of "Can I survive" they said it would air in October or September didn't they?

I thought they were airing his progress on the website? I can't say I actually tried to watch any of it after the pilot.

Have to admit, he probably did better than I would have, but I wouldn't have put myself in that situation...or cried about it a few days in. And I would have brought beer.
