what other production made survival type knives are cuurently manufactured that are within this size range?

BRKT Bravo 2 is in that size range. It is also made out of A2 tool steel> It is a production/semi custom knife.

John Nowill and Sons, British Army survival knife, 7" long and 1/4" thick.
It's an absolute bludgeon but at £45 it would make someone an excellent modification project.

I've thought of a few others....

Cold Steel Bushman
Entrek?
TOPS?
SOG?
Kellam Slasher
Extrema Ratio Ontos
Fox Cutlery Parang, Jungle and Trakker
Roselli Leuku
Spyderco Rock Salt
Katz?
Ontario Spec Plus Gen II?

I would look at fallknivens, Fehrmans, and Bussekins.
I'm also really excited for Hogue's EX-F01 knife.

+1 for the Fallkniven A1

Bark River Bravo2 should also be checked out. They are also just about to release the STS8 with a 8" 154CM blade.

Falkniven A1, and Busse battle mistress. I use both in the field regulary. Both have excellent steel, great cutters and choppers.

Let me toss the "little" khukuris from HI into the ring. I have a 12"/ 13oz siru that chops way out of proportion to it's length without being too long or heavy on the belt. And while some have called the little 12 inchers toys, you're still looking at an 8" blade, 5/16" thick made out of zone hardened 5160. They're overlooked but very handy blades.

The Winkler Belt knife is what I live by.
