I would certainly hope that preparedness and experience would play a large role in avoiding a scenario in which these things would be needed (life or death). I would probably carry one of the following items, depending on the terrain and what have you:
-Extra Knife
-Fire Steel
-Iodine Tabs
-Small First Aid Kit
-Space Blanket

PS: For future reference - General Knife Discussion if for knives specifically, What if scenarios would best fit into WSS.

It stands for Personal Survival Kit. They are usually kept in containers that are about the size of an Altoid tin. If you ever look into getting one, make sure to look at an OtterBox 1000 or 2000.

Browse around ;)

Give us a list of what you are carrying so we don't duplicate what you already have.

In that tiny pocket I would put a fire starter, a couple of unlubricated condoms (as water container), several water purification tablets, and a button compass.

Ideally you would also have a separate PSK in addition to the items and the knife.

Bond arms 45lc/.410 derringer....it will help you "acquire" any other gear you need .........heh heh heh.......

First of all welcome to our communuity, I look forward to learning and sharing with you

things that I might throw in a pouch on a knife sheath:
Signaling whistle
small led light
compass
a fire steel
dry tinder
a small pocket knife
a sharpener
a contractor bag (deoending how big the pouch is)
just a few things off the top of my head

I'd say that pretty much nails it, I'd toss a Bic in there as well if you have room !

Ok thanx that pretty much everything i
Put myself i was just curious if anyone else had something they might that is not really conventional. Anybody have anything else?

some apparatus for purifying water perhaps... either a olastic bag and purification tabs or some heavy foil for boiling.

yeah i here ya on that i have water purifiying pills. I also liked the idea of no lube condoms as a way of transporting water never thought of that

TBH, I would go for the investment of a purifier instead of tablets. They go bad and the water tastes :barf:

AquaMira Frontier Filter. It's a cheap option. I picked one up a while back and love it. I can scoop water up in my canteen or CamelBak bottle and drink from the straw. So far, not giardia or anything.

Also, RE: condoms- I prefer bottle bags because they tend to be less fragile, IME. They don't have the potential to hold as much water, but that is not an issue if you carry a bottle or other larger carrying measure. Of course, different strokes, ya know.

Yeah well how can u tell when the tablets go bad? I have iodine tablets that i bought years ago at a army surplus. They still look the same but i know it wont make the water taste good because they smell bad but in a survival situation i figure they will work.

What could the bike tube be used for?
