Just got a survivalist in last night and I’m really impressed! Have any of you picked one up?

I’ve already broken down boxes, sliced oranges, and I’m going to go hack some limbs and baton with it this weekend... maybe really put it to the test cutting sandwiches and apples. Thinking of putting a beret skull bead lanyard on it too just like my AD-10!

Drop forged 52100 steel and a knife this big for less than $75? This might just be the best “bang for the buck” knife cold steel offers.

Thoughts?

Also, that's a really awesome, well-rounded three-knife setup. Very nice, partner.
Thanks! The O-1 kukri has been around the longest, and has done some serious work in the woods. The others are more recent additions. I guess with these three one would be ready for any adventure... as far as “blades” go.

The drop forged is one of the best lines of budget/mid priced knives to come out in a long time. If you like the shape, try and find one of the drop forged Bowie models that were discontinued last year. It's a great knife that just sorta fell through the cracks.
Yep ! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

:) The "new and improved" Survivalist looks great . :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'd jump on that in a heartbeat , except I already got tons of completely adequate Cold Steel Bowies in almost every size and steel . :(

Except ...well , I just might anyway ! :p

It really is one heck of a nice strong Bowie for the price . ;)

I had the original survivalist, used it untill the new one came out, sold the original one. have used this new one for a year in the woods like you said for 75.00 its the best 8" fixed blade out there. the improved handle makes such a difference.

The Survivalist looks interesting. I hate that there's no knife stores anymore to speak of. You really have to pick up and feel a knife to know if you like it. Sometimes you hold a knife and it's completely different than you expected.

The hunter is a very good option, well worth getting one as the way its going CS will be making them out of 'pot metal' soon :(
Roy if you want to sell that Kukri let me know ;)
