I am sure that this has been covered a lot, but my weak Google-fu skills are not helping me to answer it. So, is the S!K grind flat or convex... or a flat with a convex micro bevel? Thanks in advance for answering my "stupid" question.

Flat saber grind with a v grind secondary or micro bevel. Not stupid at all. Why was I thinking you already had a GSO?

Thanks!!!! I actually have a few gso's. I have difficulty differentiating between convex and flat when looking at them. What really threw me was a thread that I just read talking about the early S!K knives that were ground by Bark River. Apparently, those knives had a convex grind. Also, I would swear that I read a review that mentions S!K having a convex micro bevel.

On a separate note, it is interesting how the convex edge is touted as being the "toughest" edge geometry, and yet S!K is one of the toughest hard use knives on the market and they use a flat edge and micro bevel.

Ok, I thought you were a proud GSO owner :)

There is definitely a lot of different information swirling around. Light Adrenaline on youtube modded a 4.1 to a convex and someone in the Facebook group just bought it. The really old, prototypes from Bark River were definitely convex.

SURVIVE! definitely has the hard use thing figured out, but maybe a current convex GSO would be even tougherer :D

For my favored way of sharpening, I prefer the v grind, but I know plenty of people rightly like the convex.

I wouldn't be opposed to a convex. With that said I'm not complaining cause what Guy is doing with his blades is magical.
