Guy was kind enough to sponsor a giveaway on my YouTube channel. He provided me with a Survive Knives Necker. Before I give it away I wanted to test and review the knife. I carried it for the last 5 days. For starters, here are the specs.

Survive Knives Necker
Steel: Bohler M390 (stainless steel)
Blade Finish: tumbled
Blade Length: 2"
Blade Cutting Length: 1.94"
Total Knife Height: 1.31"
Blade Thickness: 5/32"(.156")
Overall Length: 4"
Weight: (Knife Only) 1.2oz. (W/Sheath) 2.5oz.
Sheath: kydex with movable molded belt clip (can be attached to carry horizontally or vertically)

First I want to say a little something about this type of steel. I am quite impressed with how sharp it is and how well it holds it's edge. I haven't tried to sharpen it, though, so I don't know if that will be difficult or not. It is a very nice stainless steel that is reputed to be extremely corrosion resistant. Now onto the knife.

I have to say, at first glance I was not impressed. It just didnt look like it was big enough or offered enough grip. That all changed when I held it. It just seems to mold to your fingers and become an extension of your hand. As I stated, I carried it around for the last 5 days. During that time I did not use any other knives (at all). I cut paper, opened packages, cut up a few cardboard boxes, cut paracord, cut some fatwood feathersticks, sliced meat and cut up any food that needed cutting for the last few days. This knife did it all, flawlessly! At the end of the testing period I did a video review and cut test. It sliced paper as easily as it did the very first time I used it. Five days of heavy use (not abuse) and the edge was still razor sharp.

The kydex sheath has the perfect amount of retention. Mine came in orange but I believe it comes in a few different colors. I can easily slide it in (with a very discernible "click") and remove it. The molded belt clip has 4 holes so it can easily be mounted in a variety of ways to accomidate different carry positions: horizontal and vertical, right and left side and IWB (in-waist-band) carry.

Overall, I was more than impressed with this little blade. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a edc neck knife, concealable knife, last ditch blade or an everyday user. The feel is great, the sheath is versatile and the edge holding is incredible. I am actually pretty bummed that I have to give this away. lol. If you want to see the review, check out my YT channel. I have found the same as you. I'm going to add an short stubby lanyard just to fill the hand a little better.

Thanks for the review & nice pics.

I couldn't use mine without a lanyard.Too wobbly. There must be something wrong with my hands.:foot:
I sold it shortly after I got it.

If there was a little more to the "tail" like a half circle or so it would've been perfect.

I thought it was a top notch assessment. I really like the looks of this particular neck knife, I don't do big neck knives, but the super minimalist ones like these are what I like to carry, and appeal to me. M390 is held in very high regard on this forum as well. I think the stonewashing is grand.

Thank you for the review!

I would love to see this compared to the Brous SS1 or the collaboration with SOG, the 'Snarl' ...

Hmm... I wonder how hard it would be to put a regular sized handle on it. I could definitely see making a wood carver out of it. :)

I considered that as well, but this is the next generation  (from the Survive! Knives FB page):

There are obvious holes milled for screws/scales, so upgrades are expected

I like it! For actually wearing around my neck I'd probably prefer the first design

Would be cool if they could offer a wharncliffe version too. :)

Guy truly is a great guy. As a thank you for the review of the Necker that he donated to my YT channel for a giveaway, he sent me another Necker as a gift. I am going to keep the one above that is already used and give away the new one so that whoever gets it gets the full experience of how scary sharp his knives come out of the box. (sharpest I have ever handled) If you are considering getting one of his blades, dont hesitate. He designs and makes some pretty outstanding knives and is a great guy to deal with on top of it.
