I've only been here a short time, but from what I've seen S!k has to have the most die hard fans on bf! Yes we have less numbers than Busse, but more passion. I don't even have my first S!k in my hands yet, but I find myself loyal and almost feel protective of Survive. It's like a family. I've never been a fanboy of anything as I am very critical by nature but wow they have a hold on me. What exactly is it about these knives that garners this type of fervor? I almost feel hypnotised by it all lol

It's the fact that each and every one is laced with Guy's facial hair. Verifiable fact - go look at the first post, made by that one guy, over there, at that time, ya know? It's quite a powerful narcotic.

Be careful! It's easily spread by touch, sight, and word of mouth :D

Wow, I had no idea. Now, just imagine what these would be like if we could get a hold of some strands from Chuck Norris' beard.

I think if Guy sharpened a blade - and then Chuck Norris sharpened the blade again - a black hole would be created at the apex of the edge

Reminds me of the legends of Tradewater over in Becker ville. Guy must have a supernatural father like Hercules did.

I think a large part of the appeal stems from the company philosophy. Guy couldn't find a knife he liked, so he made it and has done everything in his power to provide it to the masses at a better than fair price. I think we all just really respect what they are trying to do. :)

^^^^ This ^^^^

I came a bit later into the picture and couldn't be part of the group who contributed to the startup of S!K but I felt a sense of camaraderie going on here amongst the fans and was drawn to it. Just love the community here in the S!K subforum, always supportive, always encouraging.

Finally received my 5.1 and love it a lot. Just can't wait to see the 3.5, 4.1 and 7/7 on order and looking forward to snagging a 2.7 if it becomes available on the Monday sale. Where else can one find such a beautifully made knife with top notch material for such a price? Am I a fanboy yet? I don't know. Right now all I can say is I have all the faith in S!K.

Yup,Guy & Ellie are dedicated to the customer & a quality knife.
That's why we're here.

In general, I think the higher price tag compared to full production 1095 knives and the higher quality compared to more expensive knives AND the relative newness of the company give SURVIVE! a pretty neat niche of customers who can afford them yet appreciate their amazing value and attention to detail that goes way beyond the price.

Personally, they have a few different hooks in me:
1. I love the design and materials. I've always loved saber grinds and Guy's designs and philosophy really appeal to me. Where else can you get super steels, contoured micarta and top notch sheaths for these prices?
2. Near flawless reviews. I've only seen a couple negative reviews of the knives themselves. Not everyone loved the handle of the old 10 and some people wanted to see longer handles on the smaller models, but despite some personal preference pretty much all of the Internet has been able to appreciate, enjoy and recommend GSO'S.
3. Guy and Ellie. They're hardworking, dedicated to the customers and involved online in a really positive way. It's a cool feeling to "know" the people who do all the work replying to emails and sharpening and building the knives and running the business.

Since I have yet to use one I can't comment on specific use, but just looking at specs and reviews it seems they could easily charge 15-20% more without a negative effect to demand! That and the fact I'm sure they know this, has earned my loyalty:) and I love those American flags on the knives, makes this former military officer's heart happy!

Yea +1

Hearing all this good feedback makes me glad I bought directly through Survive and will continue to in order to keep profits in their hands and not on the secondary market...

Silver Needle couldn't have said it better!
Yeah we run into complainers ever so often, but we have a great group of men and women that I consider friends.
Stay humble and Survive!

Oh! I forgot to mention that another really cool thing about Guy is that he took the criticism about the GSO 10 handle and the handle length from other models and made those changes in the new designs!

It really is cool being among such like minded people
