What are the communities thoughts on this knife? It is marketed somewhat as a 'steak knife' but, it looks like it might be a good small knife for everyday use. The Tanto tip should allow it punch through pretty heavy material as well versus being more appropriate for delicate or fine detail work. Being made from CPM 3V should make it pretty darn tough general urban or light rural uses too.

TIA,
Sid

p.s. I am aware Survive has a questionable reputation due to past delivery issues.

Survive! Is a ponzi scheme of a company. Don't support them. Plenty of better knives to be had. They were booted from this forum for good reason.

I think survive has some of the coolest designs. Too bad they can’t run an honest business to save their reputation.

I have 2 on order that said I would receive in 30-90 days. That was 1.5 years ago. This was me giving them a second chance from when they first took my money in 2009ish. Took 3 years to receive that one.

They should really just stick to designing and leave manufacturing and business to someone who knows what they are doing.

Ironic that their name is Survive and you won’t have the knife when you need it.

That said, the TSK is a nice looking design.

By the time you (possibly) get what you order, a cane might be a better choice. They will offer a ‘cool’ design and take pre-order money (full payment) up front, then have multiple excuses for delays. A few influencers will get knives to review and then the circle continues with customers financing a company that will not deliver knives ordered from years ago. Absolutely insane excuses after excuses, and they wipe out any negative reviews as soon as they can.

That said, I like Tanto blades but it certainly isn’t what I would pick for a steak knife. A stick-knife, yes.

Lots of great makers here that can turn out a better product and you will actually receive it when you pay for it.

Their delivery issues are not in the past.
LOL…past present and future I would say.

And I agree it’s an appealing looking design, very sleek and streamlined however I feel like if you actually were to use it to stick something in a hammer grip your hand would ride right up on the blade.

Cutting up a steak on a plate is not likely for me with a knife like this. ;)
My previous post was not mean’t to be snarky. I ordered a knife from them before knowing about all the issues they had with not delivering knives ordered years prior. Email inquiries were only answered some of the time, and by form-letter BS response. Ellie finally responded when I contacted through their site and said they ‘would try’ to get it to me. After 14 months I got a refund.

Back to Tanto blades! Check out offerings from CPE, David Mary, and Adam Kornalski to start. Great knives, prices, and customer service.

Stay safe.

Have they shipped one of these yet? It looks like an all right design but if no one has one how would anyone be able to comment with first hand experience?

And their issues are only partly related to delivery. The bulk of it is their repeated lying about delivery by making promises in that regard that they knew they couldn't meet. The TSK, for example, has been on their Production Schedule page as "Shipping Now or soon" for close to 2 years and they haven't shipped a single one.

Here is a link to the December 4, 2021 archive of their page where they say the TSK is "Shipping Now": https://web.archive.org/web/20211204052201/https://surviveknives.com/production-schedule/
