Well, just want to start off with thanks to all cantinistas who wished us well. Pensacola was hit squarely by the eastern or "dirty" side of the storm with winds about 130 mph and a storm surge that damaged all the bridges in the bay... I was incredibly lucky in that I still have a home; many here do not. Last few meals have been Spam and MRE's but they aren't so bad. I had about a 10 foot storm surge go under my house, time will tell if they condemn it but I bet not. Back of house and decks are wrecked. See pix. Lot, lot of cleanup. Many trees down, but cold weather is coming and our live oak burns nice when dry. Which Khuks? In the end I took the 21" Chainpuri and 17" Malla- I couldn't stand losing them. Mostly though it has been ax work here, green trees take a while to chop with anything, tho sharp. Massive cleanup underway. I'm at work and will have no power at home for probably a month, as 6,000 power poles are down. This was a BIG storm, as opposed to Andrew which I haad the great good luck to go thru in 1994 in Miami. The scope of this damage is unreal... big, big area. Life will go on, and we will rebuild. This is a special place, best I've ever lived. Come visit our beaches... next year. They were like sugar, the best. Gotta go. Attached are some pix. Thanks to all again.

Good luck in the aftermath. I feel for you. Take care and keep your spirits high, that always helps in any disaster.

Sure glad you and yours are alright!:D That's the most important thing!:)
If you have your life and your health then everything else is secondary.

Hate to see those pics and hear about your house/power/etc, but very glad you and yours are alright.

I'm glad you and your family are alright, I'm sorry to see the damage to your home. Stay safe and keep in touch.

It's terrible, but at least you have your life.

I know this is terrible, but when we were kids Dad used to take us out to see the forts and museum at the naval air station. I can't stand the thought of them being damaged. I've heard on the news that everything out there took a beating, any word on how badly the old masonry forts and the aviation museum were hit?

There was one that was slowing falling into the ocean even 20 years ago... Fort Pickens?

45-70, Ft. Mc Cree is the one that has mostly washed away. Ft. Pickens seems fine, but surrounded by water. Pensacola Beach is just toast- all bldgs. wrecked to some degree, water washed right over the island. Heard from a marine they might close the base (NAS Pensacola), it's so beat up. Av museum, I don't know. Giant loss.

Bruise, (you joker) the lawn is covered with muck from the bay. Fish in garage. And if I had put the khuks in a bucket, I'd never had'a findem. Worse, somebody else would have. I have furniture in my yard from I don't know where. A box marked "Alicia's Shoes". There's nobody on my street named Alicia...

Must go shovel.

They don't make hurricanes where I live. However, I'd go and buy a fishing liscence before they ticket you for the illegal fish in your garage. :)

Wow AA.

makes everyday annoyances seem like they really are. nothing to worry about.

You will be in our prayers.
