Survivor sheath?

I have a design I'm working on...ala SpecOps tactical nylon style sheath....but other than that...there won't be an "official" sheath.

Would you guys like me to have my local leather guy (Butch Hagedorn) make up a leather sheath prototype?

I like the spec ops type, or I've seen some really nice nylon/kydex from Semper Paratus for large blades. Having said that, seems like most my blades are in leather these days, so I for one would like to see a leather proto.

just remember that the sheath will be HUGE...!

And on the leather at least, with a price to match I'm sure!

I had a Busse Battle Mistress (about the same size as the Survivor) for a while with one of those sheaths I mentioned from Semper Paratus, and it really wasn't that bad to lug around with the style of thigh tie down rig they use, not so sure the paracord tiedown would really cut it on a blade this big.

I got rid of that Battle Mistress in anticipation of the Survivor. I'm just saying. :D

Price to match indeed!!

I'll have one made...but somebody here will have to buy it...I won't be able to afford to keep it "for show"...:p

:D

I always envisioned the Survivor in a breakfront type hanger belt sheathe. Something like one done for the nessmuk a while back.

Ok - I gave the local leather guy the first finished Survivor to go make a sheath with it...:D

I realized I didn't have a clear idea of what kind of leather sheath he should make....so, he's going to do up some drawings....and get back to me.

:foot:

Any suggestions?

I told him to come up with a drop-loop design and/or deep pouch sheath.

Either way...this is gonna be huge/long!!

Photo lifted from Leathermans website, hope he doesn't mind. He is the master of leather for large blades.....

I like the dropped loop design for a large knife and a secure retension system. The knife needs to lie close to the body so that it doesn't catch on dense growth. I'm a part-time tree farmer.

That's the way I'm leaning right now...with a retention strap at an angle....over the finger loop.

Thanks, Jim.

Sorry I got my wires crossed on the name...:foot:
