I've recently started watching the first season of this, not too bad actually. It's an TEOTWAWKI show that apparently is actually a remake of the same show from the 70's in Britain. No zombies or anything like that, so it's actually somewhat realistic. If you enjoy this type of fiction, it's worth checking out;

I've been passing by that every night on BBC America. I read the description and kept thinking: "sounds like some kind of oddball Brit comedy or something."

Now I'm thinking I'll have to watch an episode or two. Thanks!

"It was announced on 13th April 2010 that, due to poor viewing figures, Survivors had been canceled".

:( Figures. Every time a show looks good to me it gets the axe.

Wasn't that good to be honest. I watched it and didn't mind if I missed an episode or two, usually a bad sign as I tend to like to see a whole series.

The original series was much better, in my opinion. Quite good for it's time. It's on DVD.

I want to get the british series on DVD, as the australian screening of series has been edited down heaps by channel 9.

However , in saying that I quite liked the show

Pretty much how I feel.

There are only a few serials that I have kept up with. "Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles" was probably my favorite. But, naturally, it didn't take off and only lasted a couple seasons (I blame "American Douchebag..er..Idol." I firmly believe this show has helped to dumb Americans to the point that they refuse to use their imagination).

So far I'm only keeping up with Southpark and Justified (FX, great series). I've heard good things about "Lost" and wish I could have gotten in at the first of the series. I tried when it was G4, but stuff happened and I missed a few episodes. Once that happens I generally forget about it.

...Now I have DVR and the world is my oyster!

My wife and I really enjoyed Lost. I'm not really a TV fan and rarely watch anything on the box, although I like a good movie (in HD). Lost really kept my attention though. I bought the whole (except the last one) lot on DVD when my wife was too ill to go out and was getting stir crazy. Didn't think I would enjoy them too!

I think any good series is better watched in rapid succession though. That's what we did with Lost - watched them all on DVD over a couple of weeks. Now we just have to wait for the final series. It's much better that way. If I have to wait a week to see the next episode, I get fed up and don't bother.

The internet is a great source of recorded TV series... I've downloaded quite a lot, mostly for my wife. Not usually DVD quality of course but quite watchable. I'm not sure about the 'honesty' of doing it, but if it's been shown on TV and half the world has recorded it then I don't worry about it.

Back to Survivors... I watched a couple of episodes of the newer version and didn't bother with the rest. Not a patch on the original which I do think is worth seeing, old as it is. I wish they would let me write and produce that sort of thing (probably many others from around the forum could have a good go too), but 'normal' people probably wouldn't get it and it would likely all be censored and cut :D

The premise is good but the delivery is poor - they deal with the situation like a limp bunch of liberals no one carries anything useful considering the situations they seem to fall into - never even saw a SAK in any of the episodes I watched, and the ‘hard man’ wouldn’t last 10 minutes in a rough pub let alone lead them through TEOTWAWKI

watched both series, and enjoyed watching them,as said not very realistic, but ten times better than the other crap on the box, like strictly, dancing on ice and the rest, utter crap

I never did totally understand Lost. I think it was a difficult series to jump into and quickly be able to follow the whole story. But maybe its just me thats getting old:D, or maybe i just didnt have the patience for it.

Regarding Survivors...ive got all episodes on my comp. I thought the first episode looked quite promising, but then they got progressively worse, untill i stopped at episode 3 or 4. The series lacked that thing that made it captivating.

But generally im not that much for series on tv. A few sitcoms offer a good laugh, and i liked the first season of Prison Break, The Simpsons IMO is the only series that have upheld their high standard throughout the years. Nowadays i'd rather watch a nature show on National Geographic, or some documentary, travelshow etc.

Pretty much what I thought. They failed to learn from their mistakes or to be properly prepared.

If you read The Day of the Triffids it seems the better parts of the series could have been lifted from the book but they neglected some of the important lessons. Of course, the killer plants got left out too.:D

I've finished the first season and have to say I can't really recommend this one. It's definitely no Jericho. They basically get guns pointed in their faces several times per episode, then later look at each other shake their heads and say "what are we going to do, we have no way to defend ourselves". Apparently gun ownership is so frowned upon over there that even fake characters in a fake life or death situation can't bring themselves to get armed because only pyscho thugs carry guns, even after the end of the known world...

One of the many, man reasons I stopped watching after a couple of episodes. A lot of do good thinking and lets not become the bad guys by arming ourselves stuff.

I know it's meant to be a 'drama' and not a documentary or survival guide but as I live in the country it's meant to be set in I just can't tolerate it. Same goes for a crap movie called Doomsday, supposedly set in Scotland after a virus/flu epidemic. Do not watch, you have been warned.

I lost intrest in that one as soon as dudebud got up and walked after being paralyzed... with no muscle atrophy whatsoever. I know... so what.

Haha, that's what bothered you and not the moving islands, smoke monster, reincarnation, time travel, etc.?
