When I first got my SUS SCROFA in the mail, (It was my first Busse) I was not overly WOWed with it..
Most of this I now realise was the handle.. we all have our preferences. for me, any kind of Grooves causes discomfort, and instantly puts me off a knife..
Also, I hear so many people talking about how sharp their Busses are straight from the factory, But I've lucked out, and mine have been sharp, but nothing noteworthy.
I sanded the grooves off the SUS SCROFA, and immediately it felt like a whole new knife.. It felt good in the hand.. I then convexed the v-edge and made it sharp. Still, the feeling of the handle must have been sitting in my mind, so I relegated the Scrofa to Desk Portrait mode.. and It has sat there for months just looking COOL..
Recently, I took another look at my Scrofa, I got a strop and whipped it into shape, and its been long enough for my mind to RESET..
This knife is now Razor Hair shaving sharp, feels amazing in the hand, especially choked up on the choil.. It cuts very well.. I was even amazed that when cutting into a block of Colby Cheese it glides through like a wire cutter without binding up on the cheese... I'm loving it more and more as I use it now.. It actually makes a good utility blade, and kitchen camp knife.. I can see why it was advertised as a good EDC blade.. Not EDC for city folks like me.. but EDC in the carry around camping hiking sense.
MY BIG Question..
When is there going to be ANOTHER KNIFE WITH THE EXACT SAME HANDLE POMMEL AND CHOIL, but different blade shape.. exactly the same spec, but a straigh blade, or a drop point would be incredible match up..
Anyway.. just a shout out to the coolness of the SUS SCROFA. Its a knife that grows on you.
