Okay guys and gals.....BIG SURPRISE! I bought a Sus Scrofa. I bought my first "Real Busse" last week at KC....actually 2 of them and here I am again purchasing a Sus Scrofa less than a week later. Good thing my wife is still breast feeding our baby as he might get hungry till daddy gets paid again!! Just kidding-

So, again I am relatively new but my impression is that the Sus Scrofa doesn't get much love as I haven't seen but a few since I've been looking for one as I have a thing for Hawk bill style knives and similar. Anyway, is it just that the SUS is a super low volume blade or just not that popular? I'm just curious what kind of info any of you walking Busse encyclopedia's might know including specs, history and so on.

Any information is much appreciated and thanks for your time-

Joel

I absortlutly love them Scrofas- got 3 of them, 2 of them i has sent to Gart for modifying. Will be 3 different blade styles; one more like Warncliff, one not so Hawkbill and one plain.

Congrats on a great Busse.

Well, believe it or not the Sus Scrofa is and has been one of my favorites. The wife liked to use one of the Satin ones I had for nipping flowers out of the garden and do grafting. The SS is handy at working ropes as well. I am one of those people that has been taught all my life to NEVER pull a blade toward you always push away. Trust me if the knife is good and sharp you can control it just fine at pulling it toward you. I have used it for making small fuzz sticks even cutting up carrots and celery around a stew pot at a camp fire. Just a handy little knife IMHO. Here is a pic of one that I haven't used as this one means a little bit to me and I won't go into that here. Oh and the SS showed up back in 2007 and your right it hasn't had a lot of love or following. But those off us who have found a niche for them in our blade wear like them.

I was trying to talk myself into not buying one, and now you had to go and make this thread. Now there will be cool pictures and I will be on the exchange day and night till one comes up for sale. My wife thanks you. :)

Congrats on your new Sus Scrofa, Joel! Really great looking knife.

Just picked up my first one a couple months ago. Possibly one of the most underrated from Busse.

I had a pumpkin, black crinkle SS that I stripped, then removed the reverse curve from to make it a warncliff.

I miss that sucker.

The SS is a fantastic slicer!

I'm in love with my Scrofa... It was my first Busse, and so far it's the only one I haven't considered selling to fund a different one.

I can't wait to get hold of a SS. Just waiting for the right one to pop up.
Got heaps of little tasks for it, It'll be a user for sure :)
