Just got my SUS SCROFA made by Busse. Rather thrilled about it !

It is a smallish knife with a santoku-ish blade - only it is hooked at the tip - not able to fully push cut flat. Although I would have preferred a santoku - this one seems to do a decent job. For Camp chores - fire - rope - whittling seems perfect - for slicing vegetables seems okay - but need to maintain really sharp. If the steel (INFI) lives up to its reputation - this one is going to have a great life and be a daily user.

The handle shape allows quite some power to be applied when messing about cutting thick cardboard boxes etc. and at other times aids wihtout hindering.

@circa $300 it is bloody expensive - However this one did fit my design criteria nearly perfectly - was extremely nervous until after it arrived - the "net" is usually no substitute for handling the real thing. However the excellent pics available on the net did convey the reality quite correctly.

My first post - had to tell the world about this great little knife. Didnt post pics because there are enough excellect ones if one googles "sus scrofa knife picture".

Welcome to Bladeforums!

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Welcome to BladeForums, welcome to Busse and Congrats on the SS! :D

Welcome, I was just sitting here playing with one myself. What blade handle combo did you get ?

much ponderance about handle - basically I liked many - a good problem to have.

finally got the LE - for a little bit more - a little thicker blade and a number on it - and hopefully more attention to the tempering and cosmetics.

This will be heavily used though - not a jewel that sits inside a case.

Not forgotted the map neither - wanted pre-busse folk to know about this knife.

afore i knowed it now have a Swamp Rat M6 and the Sus Scrofa - and they're from the same home.

But do educate me on net behaviour - what is the matter if this post wanders in this area? I intend to post a review in the Busse area for Busse worshippers once more findings are established.

A fine choice Subo... I too recently bought a Sus Scrofa...but.. I found it's inability to push cut on a flat surface a hindrance... so I modified it....

(this probably voids my warranty... although all the work was done with the utmost care)

Some "Mr Moderater" moved my post from some general area to Busse - before my slow eye could see ! oh well.

Anyway now that this is in the Busse forum - which sheath do you recommend for the litte tusker (the sus scrofa LE)? Leather looks good but how does it handle weather and heavy use? I have only had folders until now - until one tried to snap at one of my hands.

And is there any additional likelihood of getting cut by the SS ? Encountered some anecdotes about the SS cutting a few folk? Seemed OK to behave - but then i was keeping the blade shaving sharp.

soup_monger - found your review extremely useful! Thanks!!

I will let time (and repeated sharpening) make this one a santoku/wharncliff shape.

Ignore the XXXL NICK. Don't go on that quest. After much discussion on this board, I probably could have sold mine for more. EEEK!!!! And to think I was offered FAR LESS (I think someone wanted to trade me 2 coated GW's for it - LOL) not 6 months ago.

Dwaine got a great deal. Awesome knife. As is hte Scruffy-doo. If you could design a good reverse-grip IWB sheath for it, it'd be a scary defensive knife as well as a good all-round knife.

The more I fondle mine, I like it.

Welcome to the herd, Subo! I personally love my--FEAR IT!!--Sus Scrofa! :D Watch out, though....the INFIdiction will soon be upon you, for you have tasted the Kool-Aid! :D

Welcome to the forums. You'll find plenty of great people and info here.

I really like Scrofa sheathes from armoralleather@yahoo.com.

Good luck

Good choice on the Scrofa! I liked my LE so much I bought a second–a black and orange with a black blade. Seems like a good boat knife to me and I liked the idea of having a coated blade. Now I'll take it when fishing salt water. Sharks, FEAR IT! Ha Ha.

I bet you'll die of old age before your Mini-SS takes a wharnie profile.

Some people will tell you to grind it down. Personally, if I wanted a wharncliff, I'd just buy one. Even if an INFI custom is prohibitively expensive, you can always get a nice custom from someone here on the forums.

Welcome to our happy family:):)

Excellent choice on your LE Sus Scrofa I am looking at the 2 scars on my fingers that a LE caused.....

Congrats again:):)

So it is YOU with these tales of SUS scrofa bites!!!

Scars? Should not have been - what are the details? I FEARED IT for quite a while - but it is actually quite docile. It handles quite well for my medium sized hands - does not slip and the blade shape does not slip either - so how did you come by these "battle scars"?

Although a knife nut - I like to maintain my appendages - so supply details please!!!

Good advise! Well I have ended up liking the little tusker - so am quite glad it will not wharnie on me!!
