Wondering what everybody who has used both have noticed about wear resistance and such. My SB Stretch has quite a few superficial scratches on the 420J2 part of the blade. Is SUS410 more durable?

I believe the selection has more to do with heat treat compatability with the core steel.

But, either way, both of mine, either Super Blue or HAP40, have seemed to scratch fairly easily. Probably not difficult to polish out occassionally if desired, but I've never felt the need.

I think there was just a thread somewhat recently discussing this same topic in more detail on the Spyderco forum...

I wonder if anyone has stonewashed one of the laminated blades. Personally I don't like how easily they scratch. I would think a coarser finish would hide scratches but a stonewash might be a better option.

I hate both of them. Clad blades < solid slab to me
I can understand why some don't care for laminate, but for me it just give more character to an already awesome knife. I use all my knives, and prefer tool and carbon steels. In a way the scratches add character for me as well. I like the look of a well used tool.
