Fellas,

I've decided to donate all the money collected from the Usual Suspect logo patch to a fund that will provide support for the families of NYPD and FDNY personnel that were lost.

What I can't determine is if such a fund or account exisits yet. This is where I need the East Coast Suspects help. I'd like to insure that the money gets to the families in real need. If any of you New Yorkers could research and firm-up some information, I'd be grateful.

My idea is to make a Group donation in the name of "Supporters of Ernest Emerson". We could discuss other group names as well, perhaps we could list each Suspects name. Note that I'm leaving 'knife' out of the group name. Comments requested.

Current payments and future payments will be included. I'm kicking in the full amount you paid, I'll cover the postage for the patches.

I'm also lifting the limit of five patches per suspect, you now can order as many as you like. There about 100 patches left.

I've been working 16 hour shifts for the last two days, so the mail-outs are delayed. For those orders I haven't mailed out yet, I'll contact you via e-mail and see if you would like to add more patches to your order.

To the guys who ordered during the "five per" limit.. I'm sure you'll understand the policy change. Your 15 dollars will be part of the group donation.

Since so many Usual Suspects are LEO and public servants, I thought a specific NYPD/FDNY survivors fund would be the most appropiate. I just need your help in finding one.

Thanks to all-

Seth

Seth,

That is a great gesture you are making. You have my thanks for this and all the work that went into making the patches.

You make me feel proud to be a Usual Suspect.

Regards,

Ed

Great idea Seth... Received my patch's yesterday and they are excellent! Please save your self Postage and just send out by regular mail. Thanks for all your effort!

Very cool Seth!
Here's one my job has set up to help families of the lost firefighters and policemen. I'm copying this from the paper:

"Now you can open your heart and wallet by contributing to a special fund established to aid the families of police, fire, and EMS heroes who perished in the tragedy. We'll get the money into the right hands throught the Widow's and Children's Fund of the Police Dept., Widow's and Children's Fund of the Fire Dept.. and Emergency Medical Services Command Memorial Foundation.
Every contribution counts, send your check or money order to: Daily News Charities,Inc., PO Box 3307, New York,NY 10001. Or, to use your credit card, call 212-210-2244 between 6am and 5pm, Monday-Friday, and between 6am-noon on Sunday."

Ok, there's one, and of course the Red Cross is taking donations.

God Bless America!!!

Dave

Dave- Thanks for the lead. I also found:

-- The City of New York is accepting contributions to aid the families of police, fire, EMS and other city employees involved in rescue efforts. Make checks or money orders payable to: NYCPPI, The City of New York, 100 Church St., 20th Floor, New York, NY 10007.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'll also pen a letter to EKI, explaining the project. That way, If "Supporters of Ernest R. Emerson" shows up on a Donor's list, They'll be in the loop.

Thanks again to All,

Seth

Seth, there may be an easier option. Check with your local Fire Department. Every Department in my county is taking donations that they are passing on to a National collection for the Families of lost Firefighters, Police Officers and Rescue Personnel. Just a thought . . . I stopped by the Station in front of my Department to make a donation this evening.

As far as I know, all the Emergency Services in the USA are accepting donations for the Families of those involved. It may be an idea just to contact your nearest Police Stn. and ask them to pass it on. may make it easier for you as well.

I think "supporters of Ernest Emerson" sounds like Ernie died. I believe another name would be more appropriate.......at least thats the first thing that came to my mind.

John, DD167- Thanks, I'm now finding CA peace officers and firefighters associations collecting locally, I'll go that route. Just Took a couple of days to get up and running. And I haven't been away from work much either.

Bandityo- I had similar reservations. I was trying to tie-in the usual suspects without being coy. I also wanted the Emerson name, but wanted to avoid 'knife'. I thought of "friends of"; but that's not much better. Maybe just "Emerson Forum Members"?

What do you think?

-Seth

Seth, "Emerson Forum Members" sounds great and great idea. Am going to my local Fire Dept to donate this PM. - Dick

Markus-

Each patch is three dollars U.S. You can paypal via seth_roberson@sacbeemail.com or send M.O. to

Seth Roberson
P.O. Box 22
Plymouth, CA, USA
95669

Scott- Email sent.

Also, There's no 'special fund' per se. I'm just donating the money in the name of "Emerson Forum Members". I guess if anyone else wants to use that handle privately, It would be OK. I Don't think it would be a problem.

I thank you all on behalf of my brother and sister firefighters. I will be getting three patches myself. If there is any doubt in your mind about the integrity of any organization that is taking up money, any fire department that is a local of International Association of Firefighters will insure that donations get to the families of those lost. You can check out WWW.firehouse.com and look under "The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund." The mailing address for donations is:
The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund
c/o Firehouse.com
9658 Baltimore Ave.-Suite 350
College Park, MD 20740
Thank you again. I know I can always count on my fellow Suspects.
