I don't know if any of you have tried to buy a Suunto clipper compass lately, but they seemed to be discontinued for a while.
I signed up for an email notification and last week they were back! I ordered two and they are great.
Most mini compasses I've tried are garbage, the Suunto settles right down and points north as you should expect.
I do have to move it away from my auto Seiko watch to work properly, just down the band a little...there must be something magnetic that throws it off.
Otherwise it's perfect. Thought you might want to know.

It's nice until you snag it on something and it pops off. I lost my first one that way. It's a good thing they're relatively cheap, cause I get about a year out of one before bubbles make it useless. I finally broke down and sprang for a Camminga wrist compass. It's a dry compass, so no bubbles. I've had it almost a year now and no problems. It is a little pricey, though.

VA27, how do you like the Cammenga wrist compass? Been looking at one myself. Is it pretty accurate? I've read that it has a loud rattle...is this true?

Accurate enough to point me in the general direction of the truck. Dunno about the rattle, never noticed it, but then I'm hard of hearing.

I'll have to look into one of those. I have two different small compasses now. A TruNord that I wear on a wrist band like a watch, and a little Marbles one that pins on my shirt. They are fine, but golly, I do enjoy buying compasses. :)

the little Suunto is what K&M matchsafe's used to come w/ until he had difficulty sourcing them, he tried several small compasses- none of them compared to the little Suunto

I have one Suunto in a K&M safe and two others, that I keep w/ small kits. They certainly aren't made for pinpoint navigation, but for a small compass I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better
