Svashtar?

Keith:

They did come on Thursday night but I have been so busy I haven't been able to get online until tonight. They turned out great, and I will post pics as soon as I can this evening.

Thanks for doing such a nice job! Stand by for pictures...

Pix are ready! Here is the work that Ferrous did on the Seax's I sent him. Both are 14" and 17 ounces. The wood handled one is by Kumar and the horn by Sher.

I asked Keith to etch essentially the runic symbols for "I belong to Morris" or "Morris Meah" into the Kumar blade, and my family motto "Tandem Vici" ("At Last, Victory", or literally "At Last It Is Conquered") into the horn handled Sher blade. I asked for the left side to be done on each as the right on both already had the Kami initials and symbols. It is just coincidence that both phrases are 10 characters.

On the buttcaps of each I asked him to etch the Victory rune, which looks like an arrow. Keith described it to me as:

"The Tiw rune, a traditional marking used by the folk for justice and victory in battle (the domain of the sword-god Tiw, or Tyr). The T rune can represent balance, the scales of justice, the point of a sword or spear, direction / motivation, etc."

He made it oversized on each to fill up the space and varied them slightly. I like the custom look of each one and they set each other off nicely.

Thanks for the great work Ferrous! :D

Regards,

Norm

P.S. Sorry for the poor use of flash and the glare on the blades. That I'm not that great of a photographer is obvious I'm afraid. I need to setup a light box like Dan uses so you could get all the details.

Nice! I thought the arrows ment
this side towards enemy" but then it would be pointing at you
