I tried a svea 123 without the windscreen in a swiss army cook kit and it seemed to fit. It cooked great inside this kit. Anyone try this? Safety? It did not blow the pop off on the fuel cap. Tried to post this earlier don't know what happened. Any advice appreciated.

I had my over hear once and pressure valve let go. Scared me more then anything. If you use it in very cold weather i would see no problem with it. But its not a good idea over all.

I have several of the little Sveas (LOVE THEM) both with the standard wind screen and with the Sigg tourist cook sets ( 2 sizes large and small). If you haven't seen one, the bottom portion of the set encloses the stove and the pots then sit on top. You can usually find one on Ebay with a Svea stove if you want to see what I am talking about. Anyway what I am trying to get at is that I would think the the setup you are trying may actually be cooler than the standard brass one because of the increased size. Maybe you can compare the temps inside the wind screens with a meat thermometer?

Just checked there are a couple on Ebay both sizes if you want to look Search Svea stove

I have never had a presure relief valve blow but I hear the flame is quite impessive and is one reason you should never use the Svea inside a tent.
