What’s cool about this knife is that as long as you are gripping it, it won’t close.

If you like these type of traditionals I highly recommend you check out the cheaper Higonokami knives. While some are super expensive it all delends which smith handmade the blade.

Higonokamis, they come in many sizes

You get the slimness of the DoukDouk with a thumbtab so you can hold the knife open somewhat like the Peasant Svord.

The Svord is a very cool knife in its own right.

I have large douk douk and was thinking of getting small one.Ill check out higonokami,as one store near me has them in stock.Im sure higonokami cuts well with that japanese carbon steel blade, probably you can easily shave with it after proper sharpening, looks more like straight razor than knife.

I'm not a fan, but the steel is good and its a simple a design as it gets. Just a blade, a couple of screws and two handle slabs. Not the best for pocket carry.
If your interested in friction folders then it's worth the purchase.

I like them, preferring the minis. I have a couple, a wood one and a nicely done aluminum handle don by a forum member with access to machine tools. I have carried them, but the tang is awkward. I like the steel, and they are good utility knives.

I took a Cordura belt sheath, put two straps on the back so I could wear the sheath horizontally, the flap facing forward, then cut off about 1/3 of the closing flap so the extend tang could stick out and carried my wooden handled Sword that way. John

That forum member would be me. I want to emphasize that the aluminum handles from the manufacturer are thin and flimsy. Not many review them well.

The plastic and the wood handled ones are great knives which I like a lot though. However, even the mini is a little big for edc. I have carried them quite a bit at work and find them excellent work knives. A belt or a pocket pouch to hold it upright solves the carry problem. This is just an old pouch for glasses stitched up one side to narrow it and then cut down.

Swords are great knives, but I haven't heard a lot of love for the metal handled ones.
Yeah, I have heard bad things about them. I have a small and large one in the plastic handles and I like them fine.
