A few years ago, Blade ran an article on Brian Baker who made knives under the "Svord" name in New Zealand. I have his "Pigsticker" model....nice , simple design with a sawsteel (?) blade. He did have a website but I can no longer find it.....can anyone give me an update on the brand ?

Brian,

I myself am currently very interested in knives from Austraila and NZ. I don't have any info in from of me but I believe if you email me I can dig up contact info or hook you up with a person who can help you that is in Austraila.

Hi from New Zealand,

I dug up Bryan's details from one of my hunting magazines:
Bryan Baker, SVORD Knives
Smith Rd
RD2
Waiuku
ph +64 9 235 8846
fax +64 9 235 8846

The only online source I know:
http://www.outdoorsupplies.co.nz/knives.htm
(yes, laugh at the rediculous prices in New Zealand for Buck knives!)

I haven't handled any Svord knives personally except for reviews from hunter friends - basically a sturdy, good value knife.

If anyone is interested in purchasing one, I can probably help.

Cheers,

Thanks, both.
The information is just what I wanted.
BTW, my "pigsticker" is the one with the black handle. I have not used it but would not hesitate to do so if needed. The pouch sheath has a covering flap like an old military holster....basically a piece of crud. The knife deserves better and ,I am sure, current models come better equipped.
