Anyone own one of these? Lot's of reviews for the Von Tempsky Bowie, but not findin anything anywhere on this model.

What do you know and how? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I don't have one, but anything referencing Ned Kelly is worth a look.

That is one darn big knife though, and not sure what you'd do with it outside of hog hunting

I do bow hunt hogs, but I live in an area with gators too. A VERY large stabber has it's own allure shall we say. :)

Ned Kelly was a Grade A, Top Flight Badass. And that knife looks the part. Almost like a smaller Smatchet.

I don't own one but it might be worth finding out what the steel is. To the best of my knowledge Svord use 15N20 and L6, the latter being slightly better. Svord fit and finish can be a bit rough too but if it's L6 I imagine it should perform well.
There is a bigger problem though; to put it the nicest possible way you probably Aren't bearded enough for Ned Kelly's knife. And if you are you're probably too hipster.

So Charles, you don't own the product, but thanks for your oh so Butch comments (while sig lining The Princess Bride). In Louisiana, we have hair in other areas than our chins (in the nicest possible way) and would use that measure on where we stand.

Other than a post to give your opinion of Ned Kelly the person, rather than Ned Kelly the product, was there any USEFUL info you had? Maybe Brian Baker of Svord should have asked you before naming the Von Tempsky too. Or was he gay?

Thanks for playing.

Single edge hog beater?
So it appears but various pics seem to show a semi sharpened swedge. L6 steel, 4 to 5 mm thickness, and I kind of like the long belly/spear point profile.

In general though, it looks exactly like that. It's why I'm seeking owners.

Okayy. Looks like you misinterpret/I misrepresented myself. Whichever. It was in fact a simple reference to Mr Kelly's astounding and legendary facial fuzz ;)

The useful info; find out if it's L6 or 15N20. Look for gaps between the tang, guard and scales. If you buy it I would enjoy reading a review.

I prefer the look of the double edge version. Lots of wasted real estate on the single edge version. Also if this is for "OH SHIT GATOR!" moments I want to inflict as much damage as possible.

Did think of that but not much for baton ing personally. Longtime outdoor guy, never really saw a need. Have a pack hawk for splitting. But I do like vids of other guys beating the crap out of their knives with a stick. :)

I'm talking myself into buying this one. Will review it too as there really aren't any I could find. And I've been looking. If it comes off 3/4 as well as the Von Tempsky, I'll be satisfied. Svord seems to be respected, have seen almost no bad reviews of their products. Rationalization, it's a bitch. :)

I don't have the "toothpick"....but bought their golak about a month ago..... Until then, I never believed a knife could be too long, or too thick! I was Wrong. :/

IMG_0441.JPG I had forgotten that I had this Svord. Needs a little TLC, but if I get an edge on it, I could use it hard. I like it because it is a solid knife, fit and finish is rough, but I like the simplicity of it. Thought to use it with the Svord Peasant or the Douk Douk Squirrel.
