I have had mine (yellow color plastic handle) for a couple of days, but I am trying to decide if I like it enough for pocket carry. It seems a little large, and it is possible it could open given the lever arrangement:

(It kinda looks like a banana or a pepper. Or a banana pepper :D)

When open, the end portion of the lever (tang?) protrudes somewhat into your hand, so it's not really built for comfort. Plus, although internet reviews say it can't close on your hand due to the way your hand grips the lever closed, I have to agree with a few dissenters who say it is not really a foolproof enough to think it cannot on your hand; all it takes is losing your grip momentarily. Still, it will not easily close as long as a good grip is maintained and also only if there is something forcing the blade to close.

Unique and very mature design, no springs to break, good carbon steel. So I was wondering if anyone carries theirs as their EDC, and how has it been performing in this role.

Thanks in advance!

yeah i did for about a year until i got my zt0200.I rehandled mine with a brow tine off a sika stag and wore it around my neck.Great little knives and cheap...

Sounds like a nice handle material! To be honest, I don't think I'll ever use it as a neck knife (unless I had some band around it to keep it closed). It's a friction folder, after all :D

I've never heard of these knives before but i'm definitely intrigued, what kind of steel do they employ? How much do they cost?

anyone have both the wood and plastic versions? I only got the wooden one and that sumbitch is such a pain to open and close. Until you loosen it and it's TOO loose. There's no inbetween. I would imagine the plastic is a bit better?

I love the steel and design, it's just a bear to deal with the opening/closing.

I like mine . the jutty bit on the tang doesnt bother me it kinda fits in the small of your palm.
The bargain of this inexpensive knife is in the steel .

I have a plastic handled one , I think its the better out of the 2.

I initially decided to go with the plastic handle mainly for the color choices and light weight.

There is an interesting phenomena with the plastic handle. Since it is a friction folder, the handles pinch the blade when it is closed ( for that matter, it pinches it when opened, too, by pinching the lever when it settles in the backslot). The lower end of the handle does most of the pinching when closed. It pinches the knife blade and the large screw at that end of the knife moves slightly in and out (like a piston!) as the knife is opened and closed. Actually, it is the plastic handles flexing that creates this effect, I think.* The screw at the pivot does not do this.

I noticed that some plastic can be shaved off when closing the knife, but not really a lot. So back to goodeyesniper's question about wood vs. plastic, I found that I was not turned off aesthetically by plastic, and based on the problems you are describing with wood, the plastic might function a little better with regard to maintaining friction between the handle and the blade.

Maybe setting it tight and applying wax or sealant will solve the tightening problem? Alternatively, you can just buy a plastic handled one since they're so cheap:)

*the movement is so small it may not be perceptible.
