I have wanted a friction folder for a while but wasn't sure if I would like one
I recently ordered 2 Svord peasant knives with wood handles and a mini-peasant
They arrived yesterday, I gave one to my son in law
I was surprised at how big they are
I will edc the mini-peasant to see how I like it but I don't think I will like the full size for edc

If you have experience with a friction folder please post it up
Obviously my $15 Svord is not in the same class as some of the customs out there, but I am still interested in hearing your stories

My only experience is with a Svord like yours. I have used it around the house and yard. I like it more than I thought I would, but it did take a little getting used to. If you remember to keep your palm or fingers backing the long tang when working with the tip, it is pretty secure. I was going to cut down the tang a little at first, but now I see longer is better. Some customs have the tang quite short and I question that. I wouldn't want to trade safety for convenience.

Takes a great edge, that's for sure. I thought the handle seemed a little too long, so I rounded off the butt end quite a bit and the knife looks a lot better IMO.

The only fault with mine is that in the closed position the stop pin does not prevent the edge from contacting the handle screw. I find it hard to believe that they would build them that way, when merely moving the pin location would solve the problem, but there it is. I'll be replacing the handles someday soon, so I'll take care of that myself then.

For the price, I think it is a decent knife.

I love my peasant knife. I've found the full size one to be the perfect size for my pocket. The way it curves makes it sit nicely against the side of my pocket and it leaves the tang sitting right at the top if my pocket so it's easy to grab.

It had a really screwed up grind when I first got it but it was very easy to fix and it took an amazing edge.

They seemed too expedient to me to be useful, they just reeked, of simplicity, I came to like both of these attributes though, and appreciate it for what it is. It's a great knife for the money, and quite serviceable. The steel (L6 tool steel) is impressive as well. I like the rough finish on the blade, and tang. Get one, at the going rate, it's money well spent.

I love the Svord Peasant! They are a great knife, albeit a utilitarian and somewhat rough and tumble finished product. The steel performs quite well, and they are tough knives ready for hard use.
Moving the pin may solve the blade hitting the rear screw problem, but would also cause it to ride high. Tightening the rear screw more will allow a friction stop for the tip, but has to be balanced with the front screw tightness. They are what they are, but with a little effort, they can be tweeked or transformed into a wonderful tool.

I bought mine from FortyTwoBlades and had him put a convex edge before shipping
I am used to bigger knives such as my endura or military, but I wanted to try something else
If the mini-peasant works out then I will edc the peasant for awhile
I may do something different like edc the peasant and a small stockman and see how it works out

Well, I was disappointed with mine....... for all of 2 minutes! I came to love the ugly little jokerquickley! Once I finally got the bevel symmetry right it was one heck of a cutter. I would say use it, and put it in your edc rotation and it will deffinatley grow on you. Congrats on the SVORD!

Not a Svord, but I have a JK friction folder that is my work knife when I am working.
I carried it in my side coverall pocket for about a year or so with no worries.
Love the simplicity of the design, but I don't understand why the tangs are always so long.
I ground mine down to where it hits the center of the stop pin & it protrudes maybe 3/8" past the handle scale now vs the inch plus that was sticking out.
Once you get used to the fact that there is no spring to keep it open, just the pressure against the blade in use & the tension of the pivot screw, they are pretty much like using any other folder.

I'm a big fan of the Svord. Simple, great steel and when you get used to it it's a strong folder. There seems to be some inconsistency in the edge but that's so easy to fix it is only worth mentioning to say it isn't a problem. Because they are so simple and inexpensive you can experiment with different tweaks on blades and swap the blades out any time you like. I really think it would be hard to regret buying one.

Funny thing is I was talking to my cousins husband (he is Kiwi and they live in NZ) and he had never heard of them

I love the svord peasant. I went cheap and got one with blue zytel handles, and it's my go-to knife for gardening and home improvement projects. It fits a jeans pocket just fine, back or front, and the tang is easy to grab. It's a "traditional one-hand opener," which is handy when your other hand is busy with something that needs cutting.

I have a svord peasant , as others found the factory edge is easily fixed , it takes a seriously sharp edge and holds it , the knife might feel light duty at first , but its not . it takes some hard use and doesnt feel it
I found the wood handle to be better to use than the plastic ones but my girls like the plastic ones .

Can someone post a picture showing it next to another knife? Preferably a GEC 15, 23, 55, 72, 92 or 85 since I'm familiar with the size of those.

I really need to pick up one of the smaller ones one of these days. It's already hard to choose between my opinels and sodbuster when I want to carry a simple workhorse, I really don't need one but will get one anyway to check it out.
Plus it will go with my simple imported classics like the douk douk and Mercator k55k.

You enablers got to me! I just ordered a yellow comp full sized peasant. The L6 steel put me over the top.

I put a larger diameter pin to keep the blade from touching the back screw. If you search YouTube for a video titled: Svordd Peasant Knife - Kiwi Goodness, I show what I did. Sorry can't post a link now.

Funny thing is that I gave one to my son in law
This guy usually carries tactical style knives like the cold Steel tilite
When he came over today he was carrying the peasant I gave him
He said that the more he plays with it the better he likes it
He wants to make a pocket sheath with a pocket clip as that is his only complaint
