This is my first venture into knife modding and convex grinding, I'm quite pleased with the results.

It started life with a crudely shaped handle, nasty varnish job, each side of the handle did not match, the blade primary grind was chisel on one side and full flat on the other, the cutting edge was sloppy and uneven - the knife was just a mess.

Before (top one if it isn't obvious)

I removed the black stuff from the blade (decarb?) and satin finished the whole blade whilst developing the convexed edge. To keep the look of the original I etched the blade where the black stuff once was.

Very nicely done. I especially like how you've taken the handle from something to approach with care (if not avoid touching if possible) to one that you want to pick up and hold.

Nicely done! I really like the rounded back end.

As an aside, how common are these knives in their home country?

Thanks for all the positive comments.

The knife feels very smooth and comfortable in the hand, like a warm polished pebble if that makes any sense??!?!?

bwperdue - I do not know any other "knife" guys and only discovered SVORD via these forums so I'd say SVORD are not common at all in NZ, I had to order mine from the south island and have never seen them in the high street.

I think SVORD are more common in UK.
