Hi everyone,

I'm new to this section of blade forums but have been a member for a while. After experimenting with different types of knives and usages I have found my niche in the "more bang for your buck" kind of knives.

This being said I recently got a svord peasant and instantly fell in love with it. I believe the design is absolutely brilliant. Although the fit and finish on this knife is sometimes spotty and mine is by no means perfect I actually like this, it gives the knife some character.

So being an aspiring bushcrafter has anyone used it in the role of a bushcraft type knife? I think I will use it as a backup behind my mora 2000 which will go nicely with the laplander saw I picked up.

Also, do you guys carry special knives for wood carving as I am currently looking into some so I can begin to learn how to carve.

I carried my peasant exclusively two weeks ago in northern Wisconsin and have no complaints. Paired with an axe or saw, it's a great setup. Tuffthumbz also made me two sets of G10 handles for my peasants and they really make a difference for long term carving.

For sharpening I use a mousepad and 600-2000 grit paper followed by green compound on some cardboard. I find that's the best for peasants since all of mine have "unique" grinds...

Can you post some pictures of the G10 handles? do they allow for the tang to be completely hidden in the handle for comfort or does it still poke out the back in your palm?

This is the set I did for mine

I put string trough hole in "tail" so i can use it for neck carry or to fix tang to handle,it is more comfortable and bit safer too.

The bump is hardly noticeable. It's smooth so it's no problem. My handle looks just like edcs and is a lightweight beast.

You don't really notice the bump when actually holding the knife. :)

Thrill, that's how I felt too. I like mine, & it takes a nice dark patina, but it' just a little awkward in the pocket if that makes sense.
