My wife and I were spending the weekend with a bunch of friends at a cabin in the Sierras. It was our turn to cook for 13 people. Turns out there was not a sharp kitchen knife in the place. Luckily, I brought the svord peasant knife with me for the weekend. I've used it to make dinner in the past, and it performed admirably.
We tried sharpening the other knives using the coffee mug trick, but they were too dull, and people were getting hungry. We shared the svord; I was making sushi. If you ever tried cutting sushi with a dull knife, you'd know it was impossible. You'd just squeeze the fillings out the side without cutting through the seaweed. We also cut up mangoes for dessert.
Our meal was a success, which was made a lot less frustrating by having my sharp svord knife. I've carried the full sized peasant in my front pocket all weekend, for a 5 hr drive and a 9 mile, mountainous hike. Never did it accidentally open in my pocket. It's been surprisingly comfortable to carry. I'm seeing the peasant knife in a new light after this weekend.
