An ignorant question but... I take it the tang on the Peasant is not meant to go completely into the handle when open, right? Mine doesn't seem to but gets in there nice and tight for use. In fact if I push it in too much it's a dickens to get the thing closed again. Perhaps getting one with synthetic scales would help (have a wooden one for now) Hate to ask on such a simple design, just want to make sure I'm using it correctly and not hurting the little guy. ;)

You could probably just cut that part off if it bothers you. I still want to shorten the tang on one and try and add a lock.

Considering it has such a long tang like that, I'd also like to try and make a little fixed blade out of one.

Rabbi, check at about 6:40 in this video. The guy shows how the knife can be used as a fixed blade with a paracord wrap. Of course, you could also make a more ergo handle from wood, G-10, etc. Lots of possibilites with these knives.
