Hey guys, I've been browsing around different forums in search of the perfect edc combo and found a knife that might make a great large edc knife (to go with a medium sized slippy).. The Svord Peasant! I know its not new to anyone but I was just curious if anyone has edc'd one of these oldschool beauties? If you have let us know what you thought, I know I can't be the only person curious about it

I have a plastic handle one, not allowed to carry it here but the blade is good steel, holds a edge well, the rest of the knife is cheaply made but very functional and should last a long time.
can't expect to much from a cheap knife.
I bought this one purely to make my own version.

the svord peasant folder is way too big to EDC IMHO. I loved the concept so much i ordered a custom friction folder by Michael Morris. I EDCed it for a month straight.

+1 for Morris Friction Folder. I've been EDC'ed it 3 months straight since I got it

The Svord peasant EDC's well in an internal jacket pocket, but i have found it to be too large for a jeans pocket EDC.
Its a great knife for the money, but I would recommend refinishing the handle and mirror polishing the blade (convexing it too).
Mine came out very nicely.

This is my inly pic of it LOL

I owned a wood handle version. Didnt care for it much. Looks cheap in person. makes alot of noise, wiggles, rattles. Feels cheap in the hand.

Did you try adjusting the screws? i tightened mine up and all the wiggling and rattling stopped. also a bit of sand paper and a new wood stain or varnish adds some more class to the knife.

yeah that morris one sure looks great. I've actually been thinking of making one (or a couple) myself...always wanted to make knives :P might be a good place to start..I am sort of falling for the friction folder, very primitive and usefull, no worries of locks failing too.

I often see comments like this about friction folders, how there is no worry of the lock failing because the lock is your own hand. Sounds good on paper but in practice it isn't so. Using the knife can cause your grip to shift enough so the blade comes down on your finger. The grip has to remain just right. A slipjoint is actually safer to use.

I did tighten mine up. But I could still feel the handle slabs shifting in my hand. Just not what I like in a tool. Didn't see any reason to go the extra distance of staining and varnishing it. I was quite taken initially with the idea of friction folders. The thought that I could make one myself someday, with my limited shop tools, added to the appeal, however after buying the Svord as well as Higo no Kami friction folders and using them, I am put off by how easy they are to fold up on you at the wrong time. That and the fact that the Higos as well as the Svord look and feel very cheap, its not just that they are simple.

I love them. Never thought I would, but now I've got 4. They take a good sharp edge and are quick to deploy and cheap.

I think they just fine for spare knife(camping),bit large for EDC,though i did it for couple months, handle works fine when you get used to,and you can always use piece of cord to secure it.
