Hey there!
This is my first post on this forum, so I might just be doing everything wrong.
Anyways, I have considered buying the Svord Von Tempsky Bowie for quite some time now. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is a few doubts in the design of the knife.
It seems to have the kind of "sharp corners" cut into the tang just where the crossguard is, similar to a Ka-bar Usmc knife, only less dramatic of a taper. It seems to be the biggest weakness of the knife, and I'm afraid it might snap in half after some serious abuse, like a Usmc would.
The next problem I see is the crossguard. A few videos on Youtube shows that it does get loose and start to rattle after some time. I suppose it's not welded to the tang.
I remember reading somewhere that a loose crossguard could be fixed, but I can't recall how it was solved.
I have no idea how the crossguard is attached to the knife, so I can't really get an idea of whether or not it is a weak construction.
That's everything about the knife that bothers me.
If anyone owns or has handled the knife, I would appreciate your input.
Everyone else is also welcome to give some input and clear things up for me, since I'm not particularly familiar with knife constructions in general.
Thank you!
