Hey everyone out there gonna go out and buy myself a black Smith & Wesson Swat with the combo edge. Iz there any probz wit this knife i should know about? Had any bad experiences?

Hi, i do think that the general feeling towards S&W knives is that they are of lesser quality then similar priced knives.
And they are quite infamous for ripping off designs without giving credit, and some people think that thye sold out with their policies regarding a handgun issue (i'm not too well versed in that one though)

So, i would NOT buy any S&W knife. :)

Thanx 2sharp for the opinion. Still i already know about how S&W have a lesser quality and thats the reason i'm buying one. I'm only going to use this as an EDC and to do jobz i wouldn't want to do with any of my other knives. So i chose to buy a reasonably cheap knife to do my dirty work. Thanx again though.

Although it would be nice to know about other knives at around the same price of the S&W SWAT which are of a higher quality. Please post some examples if you have some 2sharp and anyone else.

I'd say look at CRK&T, they make great knives and aren't too pricy.
Spyderco has some cheaper knives like Delica, Endura etc.

If you buy a better quality knife it'll stand up to being abused, and come back begging for more :)

I would go with a CRKT, a Timberline Discovery in Aluminum with a combo blade, or if hell-bent on a Smith, the 1235. For a real beater, the "new" S&W's, not even made in the USA will be a GREAT DISPOSABLE one Month beater. then it's Rubbish. Go for a CRKT, Kershaw Vapor II, or maybe a.....................................................
How the hell do I know, I am a NEWBIE. Buy what ya want!!!!wolf

I've bought maybe 15-20 of the SW 2000B Swat models for resale and raffles at my gun-club. Those guys love 'em. I know, too, that they like a knife that reads "Made In America", although I told them they were probably made elsewhere. Each of them were very sharp OOTB with excellent QC...great value for $20. That being said, I'd recommend the CRKT Mirage at SMKW for $10: hard to beat THAT deal! ;)

The SW SWAT knives are decent for the money.
I own a couple that were converted to automatic.
Overall though, I would have to recommend the new
SW HRT Quick-Flick with the Magnesium handles designed
by Darrel Ralph. They snap open quick as an automatic with
a finger flick on the "spur".:)

Chris, don't waste your money on the S&W SWAT series. The lock up is terrible and the knife is very clumsy (bulky). I had one for a while, but I sold it really cheap because it sucked. It doesn't clip well to the pocket because it's so bulky for it's size (and too heavy). The blade's don't hold an edge that great either. The worst part of it is that it has the S&W (yuck! ) logo on it.

Your money would be better spent on the CRKT Point Guard or a Spydie Endura.

I wouldn't get anything by S&W if you are going to really use it hard! I got my nephew one and he is a serious hunter/hiker/outdoor guy of 20. He pretty well trashed it in about 3 months of heavy use two days a week. Spend a little more and get in the $65 - $80 range at a show and you'll be set!

I have the small version with black plain edge. The text "First Millennium Run" is stamped on the blade.
One thing I can say about the knife is that it came razor sharp, in fact it was sharper than most of my knives.

I am split on S&W knives.

I have one of their neck knives that I think is really great, but I have put down some of the "workhorse" line of S&W's because they seem like made in China crap.

I have also been fairly impressed by some of the H.R.T. fixed blades though.

Chang and all
The NEw quck flick holds an edge as good as any crkt knife. The maker is the same as crkt. The folders with my name on them are excellent!
I masde that requirment when we were in the first part of the deal. NO QUALITY NO NAME.
I like the straight fighter also . Try it !

IF your looking for higher quality sit tight. A few more months will give you what you want.
Cant say more than that right now.
