Good morning from Norway

Being a newbie SR collector I have question:
Visually there is a difference in the texture of the SR moss coating in comparison to the other coatings, tan for instance....
Is the difference in texture in the actual coating or in the steel (polish)

I have moss Ratmandu but dont relly feel like removing the coating just to satisfy my curiosity (although I am considering it):)

Ill propably have to write a proper presentation of myself but Ill leave that until my so far biggest concern has been settled: What color combo on my Rucki preorder:p

I'm pretty sure the difference is in the coating itself and not the actual blade.

Some of the coatings have a smoother texture others are rough, I believe the texture of the caotings have nothing to do with the steel underneath unless the blade was really rough.

Thanks for the replies guys:)
I kinda expected the texture to be in the coating but I could tell for sure.
I really like both the color and the texture but being users everything ends up stripped sometime and I wasnt to keen on additional hours of polishing and buffing.
So far the moss coating seems to hold up very well. Most my other black blades (other manufacturers) tend to give in after a couple of hours...

I don`t think there is much difference between makers when it comes to the thicker "traction coatings" but the other types of coatings vary wildly in durablity. I have no idea why cold steel even bothers with the coating on the folders they make I think spraypaint is much tougher , much like the coating on the ontario RAT1 it scratches right off with use and makes the knife look beat to heck.

Tanker grey seems to last forever, especial compared to coatings from other companies. I think the difference in texture is simply minute inconsistency in the application of the coating. So some are more crinkly and some are less crinkly, but they all benefit from being textured.

I wore the mossy green off my warden fast if that counts. Used it one night at a campfire and was missing a large amount of coating afterwards. Still a great blade IMHO.

my sage and tanker grey blades are a little smoother than my other colors, but black is my favorite.
