Swamp Rat Knives is Proud to bring you the Galley Rat in SR-MagnaCut featuring an Orange and Black G-10 handle.

It's coming to the Busse Combat website Sunday (7-16-2023) by 9:00 PM Eastern.

This may be your only chance to add a stonewashed Galley Rat with Orange and Black G-10 handles to your collection.

The Galley Rat with Orange and Black G-10 Handles is amazingly handy when being used in the great outdoors since the Orange in the handle makes it much easier to locate when dropped or misplaced. It makes for an exceptional hunting knife and/or camp chef knife with its very fine edge and optimized heat treat.

The Galley Rat brings form and function to a whole new level with excellent geometry designed for fine slicing. This wonderful blade features a ridiculously comfortable and highly controllable handle.

Working closely with Busse Knife Company we have developed a heat-treat protocol that allows SR-MagnaCut to achieve performance levels that are ideal for the intended task of this design. With a hardness of 61 - 63 Rc, you can rest assured that the Galley Rat will hold an edge in the most severe of camp kitchen tasks. Our proprietary heat-treat protocol, featuring deep cryogenic cycles and Transversion Wave tempering destroys the old adage that, "Knives that hold an edge forever, stay dull forever". The Galley Rat's SR-MagnaCut steel has been optimized for ease of re-sharpening and long-lasting edge retention.

I bought one of the originals and I really like it. It’s a real practical knife in the kitchen and I always have it “around” as a knife I can pick up and get to work quickly with and make a salad, sandwich or the like with and not have to pick up another knife and thus usually includes raw onions, bell pepper, a block of cheese, slicing or chunking up cold pre-cooked chicken or pork, or leftover steak, raw broccoli, etc etc. does it all and does it efficiently…and I have some nice hand forged Japanese kitchen knives I really like to use and sharpen and enjoy when I’m cooking-cooking. This is a very practical knife and it’s nice to be able to just put it down and walk away and clean it later, and not mind about cutting surface as much. It really does stay sharp, too. I’ve used mine pretty extensively.

Also…can go right in the pack if I want it to. It feels a lot sturdier than the .090 would suggest. I have all the confidence i need, and I’ve had awesome experience with the sub-.1” thick Busse Elmax I use as well.

And the warranty is tops.

Can’t decide between another Galley Rat (the pumpkin is a great idea for this one) and the drop point Elmax up on the site. Or just keep enjoying the current GR and the steak knives!!

Jerry - MAKE SOME MORE STEAK KNIVES!!! Maybe my all time most used Busse model!! Ha!

Actually I snagged that elmax Busse custom shop and man o man am I glad that I did!!! Super thin and slicey and that elmax took a Absolutely scary sharp edge on my Venev's then stropped with Gunny Juice progression it literally won't even whittle hair because it cuts it cleanly in two on contact free hanging strand of thin hair! Now even though it is that wicked sharp it certainly is not brittle or weak at all because I tested it hard by twisting the edge in some hard maple just to see if it'd roll or chip and it surprisingly took zero I mean zero edge damage or degradation whatsoever! What a smoking deal this was for an Elmax custom shop!
