Swamp Rat Knife Works Military Overrun R6 with Cordura Sheath?

I am thinking about getting a Nylon/Cordura Sheath for my Swamp Rat Knife Works Military Overrun R6.
But what I don't know is which size to take. I know there are several like Spec Ops, Eagle Industries, Blackhawk Industries, Mercworks. Did I forget any?

The MO got a blade length of 6 3/8".
On Ebay I've seen an MO with a Spec Ops Master Sheath fitting 6" knives.
But the dimensions of the sheath say something else.

So I am curious, if someone can help me getting the right sheath.

This is the knife - you'll surely know it:

Yes, you are forgetting all the custom Kydex makers out there!!!!

That is a lovely knife, by the way! A real looker!

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Only Kydex is no Option in this case. It has to be a solution with Nylon/Cordura and a Kydex inlay.

Great looking knife. I am afraid that I can't be much help though on your quest. All I can say is I have used Spec ops products before and I have been very impressed with them. You may want to ask this same question on the Swamp Rat section of Blade forums. They may have more helpful information. Of course someone may chime in here any second.

Really nice knife by the way. I'm po'd i didn't get one.

One of the best looking blades to come out of the Swamp in a while! Nice!

Blade width and thickness will play a factor in getting a sheath for that one. When you get all the specs together you might try contacting a vendor for each sheath and see if they would measure the closest sheath to your ideal size to make sure it would fit before you purchase.

Please do let us know how it goes!

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks the Swamp should be fielding Swamp questions, last time I pressed this I got a STFU&MYOB

so I did. :p

I believe that the Spec Ops 6" sheath will fit just fine.
I think it will. I had one for my Son of Dogfather and after modding the the kydex insert for the thumb ramp and forming it to the blade it was perfect! Surely if will fit the OP's knife.

I know for sure it fits the 8" one. Have 6" for my M6, But it has shorter blade than R6. It still might fit the shorter one too.

The other option is to contact Azwelke or BuyBrown and ask for a molded kydex insert foe Spec-Ops sheath, you could have double retention then.

I've seen pics of a member who said that the short Spec-ops will fit the regular Rodent 6 with the double guard. If that is the case, I wouldn't see why your variant would be any different. I feel pretty strongly that it will work well, but may need a little molding of the liner to get a good fit.

I know for sure it fits the 8" one.

This i also know for sure. :D

But it looks like that the 6" Sheath will fit this knive. So, I will have to get myself one of this 6" sheaths and try it. If not, then an 8" will have to be bought.

The molding itself will be no problem. The Cordura is - as I am no stitching-expert. Basically i can repair cloth, but got no equipment for cordura etc.

Thanks for the info, will get back here, when the sheath is ready to use.

You shouldn't need to touch the cordura at all, molding the liner wouldn't really be necessary either but it will keep the knife blade from banging around the liner.

Referring to a R6 fitting a small Spec-Ops or not that’s a resounding YES IT DOES and very well by the way.
1st pic, R6 sheathed.
2nd pic, a better shot of R6 seated in liner throat.
3rd pic, self-explanatory
4th pic, with the liner and R6 pulled out and the R6 seated as far as it can go you see where the cutting edge is.
5th pic, if the location of the edge bothers you then this is what you do. Mark a spot ½ way from the edge of the liner and the starting edge of the factory hole. MARK IT! You can use a 7/32nds, 15/64ths or even a ¼” drill bit. Make sure the bit is SHARP. Drill through both side of the liner and WAH-LAH, problem solved. Now reinsert the liner and replace the screw. I guarantee the tip nor edge will contact the screw post.
6th pic, this show the OD of the screw barrel being .196 If you think about it that is also 5mm.
Hope this helps. Oh and I should say I have done this several times. Two of which were for Tank Busters.

I did not go for the MO because it's dimensions were right on with the R6. When my R6 first arrived I tried it in the smaller Spec Ops Combat Master and it fit.

Yea agree big time. Mine didn't require any modes either. I just showed those pics as an example to explain how you can make a small adjustment to a length w/o much ado. Still wish Spec-OPS MADE THE master sheath with the bellows aux pouch. Could get more items in that one.
