I have never bought a Swamp Rat knife before. I went to thier website to look at thier knives but couldn't see them. Where do you look at their knives?

Even that link isn't terribly helpful....

Swamp Rat usually only sells one knife at a time, and it's generally done on a pre-order basis. Right now, the knife that is selling is the Rodent Waki. To pre-order, you must send an email, and then a couple of weeks after they stop taking pre-orders, you will be contacted to send payment for your knife. Once you've paid, it will ship.

Apart from the current offering, the only other ways to get new Swamp Rat knives are at the few shows where Busse family blades are represented (BLADE, Knob Creek, and BLADE West). If you don't want the knife that's on pre-order, and you can't make it to one of the shows, your only other option is to buy second hand from someone who has what you want. Swamp Rat knives are sold fairly regularly on ebay, and there is also a forum for selling them (and other Busse family knives) here:

Good luck - I became interested in these companies fairly recently, and it's a bit of a hassle to get your hands on the knife you want - but once you do, it's completely worth it! I hope you stick around and learn the details, and get in on some sweet steel.

The fact that they are all gone means that we got here first and grabbed them all!! Next time you need to be here and then you can grab one too... maybe. ;) It's worth the wait.

I like most of them. I especially like the ones that cost a fortune. What is your favorite of the Swamp Rat knives that can be found for under $200?

Depends on what size knife you want - I'm a big fan of my Mini Uncle Mojo, which I got for just over 200, including the sheath, second hand. For a small everyday carry kind of knife, the little swamp rat vex, which was released at BLADE, is very cool, and can be found pretty easily second hand, since it's a newer design.

The bigger, chopper-sized knives, will generally run you over 200 bucks - the M9LE, for example (one of my favorite knives) went for 250 retail, and is selling for 300+ second hand.

Up until the Satin Battle Rat they were all found under $200, but not anymore. I love my big choppers but the best all round for me was the Gen-1 Howling Rat. All knife, no BS.

A very big +1 on that, although I would say $ aside, the SBR is a pretty close second.

Yep, scrap yard is where the sub-$200 knives are most easily found now. Plus they've got those sweet res-c handles

These are the knives I like.

Gen 1 howling Rat
Vex
Camp Tramps black
Ratweiler
Mini uncle mojo
SAR rat
Howling Fat
Swamp warden

Can someone tell me the average price you can find them for? Also which one of them is your favorite?

Talk about quick and dirty! I didn't even get up from my desk for this one.

It is definitely different. I thought the swamp warden would be the bigger of the two. It looks a lot like the RAT Izula. Is the Swamp Warden also 1/4 in thick?
