Post your mods! What you did and how you did them and any tips or tricks you learned along the way. Ill start

the RMD. I drilled out the handle rivets and then stripped the coating off using Citristrip after a 45 min soak. With citristrip you can use a scraper and completely scrape off the coating like a piece of skin. I swedged the top of the blade for a better penetrating tip.

I was going to leave the blade unfinished but the factory finish was horribly uneven so I ground down the rough areas and gave it a satin finish. I decided I didn't like the satin finish at all so I gave it a patina using oranges but decided I didnt like that either. So I gave it a hand applied scotch brite "stone washed finish" for a nice antiqued look. I Chicago screwed on the handles but Im going to some nicer looking screws. Then I gave it a highly polished convex edge and called it a day :thumbup:
Im really happy with the results and love the old timey look.

Those stripped Rats look great!

The only bussekin I've modded (besides convexing edges) is not a Swamp Rat, but it is SR-101... I rounded the choil on my Scrapper 5 to be more comfortable.

EDIT: I forgot about one of my Swamp Wardens that I stripped and gave a satin finish. Then I convexed the edge and blued the blade.

Nope; just left them on. The stripper didn't hurt them at all.

Norcalblacktail, that was actually the RMD that inspired me to modify mine! Beautiful work, you could split an atom with that edge.

I modified the top Quillion to a more subtle thumb rise, to better fit myself. Then appied a grarefruit Patina and convex edge.

Not a swamp rat but its a family affair here

I took of the top guard on my regulator and gave it a screaming convex edge. Here it is with my other one for reference.

Dyed my Rodent Solutions Black Canvas Micarta a darker black with Fiebing USMC Black leather dye. And the RMD Light tan, to cover up earlier attempts to darken.
