Maybe a slightly longer handle for two-handed manipulation?
I don't know the exact specs, but kind of like the AK.
The AK has a blade of about 18.5".
I would personally prefer a blade around 15" - 16" (possibly 17"). At this length, I think it could be controlled very well with a roomy, yet well designed for grip, single hand grip.
I would compare it to a thick, stout, slightly heavier, short machete.
I would prefer a handle with some sort of beak at the pommel. I think this offers better control.
I personally strongly prefer a single grip to a double grip. I would make the Rat-kizashi balanced to suit a single hand grip.
For comparison, I measure the "Grip area" of my Battle Rat at about 4.0625" - measuring the underside of the grip from the peak of the pommel to the peak at the front of the grip/guard. The over-all length of my Battle Rat handle is about 5.125".
So, I guess the the handle I am describing may have a "grip area" at about 4.125" - 4.375" and about 5.25" - 5.5" oal.
This would put the Rat-kizashi at about 20.25" - 21.5" oal.
Compared to the AK at 29" oal.
The Rat-kizashi would be lighter, faster and more nimble in the hand with a single grip and I feel similar cutting leverage could be achieved with a well designed handle.
Keeping the over-all length closer to 20.25" - 21.5" (possibly 22.5") would make the Rat-kizashi much easier to carry than the AK.
Keeping the over-all length with a single handle should also keep the price more reasonable. A two handed grip would bump the length up about 5.5" - 6" more inches.
